Is there a list of Mefi visual artists or photographers anywhere (Not musicians or authors)? I know about the Volunteer Portrait Photographers and MefiMall, but is there any other list of Mefites that are visual artists or photographers? If there is no such list, can ya'll help flesh one out on the Wiki?

If you're not comfortable with Wiki editing, go ahead and post the pertinent information to this thread in the following format:
Artist type (photographer, painter, printmaker etc), Mefi name and a link to their online portfolio if they have one.

Hopefully many Wiki formatting savy Mefites will help with posting the information in the relevant category on the Wiki.

But if you are comfortable editing a Wiki, add the information there.

I am a photographer. You can see samples of my stuff on my Facebook gallery of vernacular photos I am taking, and I regularly post my stuff to Facebook, such as my gallery of photos I took of filmmaker John Waters today.

I know they look amateurish. Trust me, that's deliberate, although it drives my editors crazy. It's a thin line between vernacular and just being incompetent.

I cleaned up the page a little and gave it a wiki category.

Brandon, I put The Whelk in twice, to put a clear separation between Cartoonists and Illustrators (I know we have more than one of both onsite, and assume those lists will grow.)

If it bothers you and you would like to change it back, feel free.

Put yourself in the photographer, graphic designer category, unless someone has a better solution.

I'm currently shooting a technical form of photography, lenticular 3D. I'm doing this large format, and manufacturing it myself. I can do 44" x 96".

Its' sort of like a hologram, because it's a set of pictures of something rotating, kind of shifting left to right.

I've only made one test in the new manufactory, but seems I can make these big 3D panels now.

I've been setting up to shoot a sample demo for weeks, and soon I'll be shooting a sequence depicting a pine cone.

I'm shooting macro panorama, with stacked depth of field. Canon 20D, 6 X 8 panoramas, 100 individual image sets, each with a 1/2 degree increment turntable rotation , for a 50 degree rotation, 3 stacked focuses. Each of those will be shot with 4 light setups, to be composited later.

It's looking like over 25,000 individual 20D 8 megapixel shots to depict this one pine cone. I hope to reference the psychedelic connotations of the pineal grand. Soon, I'll motorize this setup, I'm trying to shoot this first one by hand. Seems like it might be a 150 hour sequence for the pine cone.

I used to just do the editing thing, but I got too old and made too much money, so they laid me off. Now I do all this stuff to try and feed the family.

OK, well, I used to paint a lot more. Most of the stuff in this Photobucket "portfolio" are several years old now.

Toward the end of that album there's an example of some of the metalwork I've done. I think that's all I have photos of even though I've got a whole metalsmithing degree. Also there are a few zines in there that are associated with a sort of comic book I do, Juicy City (facebook page).

A while ago I ran a blog that was sort of a failed experiment in scale and walking a line similar to Astro Zombie's vernacular photographs. There's no scale on the internet, and most of those are pretty tiny.

Also, I do most of the posters and some props for a local theater company, Fight Boy (another Facebook page).

So, painting, drawing, comics, metal, general 3-D, some graphic design, and propmaking. Christ, I'm way behind on keeping much of this documented online.

Neato and nifty, seeing others' awesome photos leaves me seriously skeptical of being worthy of sharing a link in the same place, but some say sharing is caring (forgive me my excesses in use of colour alterations, I know not fully what I do; I use little editing beyond some colour changes and exposure editing; all focus effects done in-lens [I cannot recommend highly enough the value of purchasing a hollow tube lens extender, for a reasonable price you can turn standard lenses into a usable Macro, but look around, I paid half that for my hollow tube extender]).

I take pictures of things and stuff, also spiders and such, ultimately, my passion may lie in making insects look even more like Xenomorphs than they already do; I also share them onto the internet, and other people could definitely use them for their own 'nefarious intensive purposes'; completely non-professional (just hit the first limits on flickr, and don't feel comfortable paying for a 'pro' account until I make the $30 to pay for it through photography, currently it seems every time I add a new image, it will hide an older one, however, one day I will have created a deep enough library of plant pictures to make a book of 3d stereograms (wiggle-grams), and on that day they will be used in the creation of an e-book of stereograms cross-pollinated with a practically amateur selective history of botanical science, titled "Even Plants do it different: myriad lifeways under the green Earth's sun", or alternatively, retitled for the US market, "NSFW - The ultimate extreme book of Plants exposed, shameful naked plants, and plant watching sans pants" which, in a perfect narrative will be followed by a companion Botanically accurate Pop-up book explaining sex, by means of the history of scientific and proto-scientific methods of understanding plant sexualities.

Starting with early purely descriptive narratives, and moving into the ascription of "inner-lives" onto the plants, and ending with the increasingly holistic, cradle to grave methods in use today, incorporating traditional Linnaean taxonomy, alongside modern genetic systematics, in cooperation with indigenous knowledge narrative resources. Also it will investigate why people have been so easily accepting of the myriad ways of plants, yet so intensely skeptical, and frequently closed minded in discourses regarding virtually the same discussion, only as pertaining to people or other animals. The ebb and flow of scientific history will be examined, as well as the push-pull nature of narrative histories; the multi-faceted nature of the (frequently) over-simplified discourses on nature. Also, a new global history of Bananas.
