Drug Awareness Hump day October 19, 2011 2:19 AM   Subscribe

About a year and a half ago, I asked this question trying to identify a dj-mix I had heard on the radio. It remained my great personal unsolved ask-me-stery, the only Q that truly stumped the masses - until a few hours ago. Praise ooklala!

Came home from the movies to find this in my memail inbox:
Subject : that really old cocaine question

Message : So you asked about a radio show ages ago. Somehow when I was searching for questions about DJ equipment I found it. I think I know the program you are talking about.

is it the 'ed shepp radio experiment'?

here's a link to the program i am talking about (and the episode about stimulants in general):

sorry about the real player; this shit is from 2006.
it is also very awesome, even if it isn't what you want

he also made a psychedelics one:

a marijuana one:
http://wfmu.org/listen.ram?show=18624&archive=26888

and an opium one:

(and here's the general show archive: http://wfmu.org/playlists/ES)
Hopefully this is acceptable use of MeTa ... the AskMe was closed, but there was only one answer and nine favorites, so I figured others were interested ... plus it's great stuff. And educational.

Maybe some day I will find the answer to my first ever ask.me...

Praise ooklala!

I try to locate a "found" slogan somewhere in my environment for every new day. Today it is "Praise ooklala!"

(And I think this is a cool use of Metatalk.)

Praise him! Praise him! Praise him with great praise!

With the support of the People, the Party and the leadership of Comrade Ooklala, we can together meet this month's quota for responding to unanswered questions.

Are you sure? I'm not sure what pronouns are preferred by most tomatoes.

Well, IIRC, only male tomatoes are allowed to milk cheese. The females must grate yoghurt.

Tomatoes are very sexist.

I had a similar experience. My first AskMe was about the identity of a video I watched when I was a kid. It was too obscure, and I didn't get the answer I was looking for. Then, out of the blue seventeen months later, somebody contacts me (on Twitter, strangely) with the name of the video and a YouTube link. Itch scratched!

Seems like just as good of a caption to the "Eeny-Oony Wana" Far Side comic. (In correct or incorrect form!)

If you were also smothered, covered, chunked and topped, I'd really be impressed.

My coolness of the day (actually last night) was when this project was posted it got me to thinking of this other thread which made me look to see if my picture was drawn and it was!

Think of the kids.

Also, while looking for the original Jack thread I found this, and thought the traffic stuff was cool.

You need at least diced and capped too. Honestly, why not just go all the way?

Mannequito posted to an askme thread
No one had the answer that he sought
Ooklala emailed him, "Hey, it could be ed,"
And in the end it proved exactly as he thought.

Ooklala, Ooklala, life goes on, brah!
La la la, praise Ooklala!

WFMU is definitely one of the greatest radio stations. All of you should be listening to it (on the web!).
