I just got an Android phone. So everyone has to stop making good posts so I don't get fired.

Seriously, since I now have the ability to check MetaFilter at work y'all need to start sucking a little more. How am I supposed to get work done at work if I'm checking MetaFilter? I already get my exercising interrupted by servers bringing me dirty dishes. It's getting to be a bit much.

Seriously though, it seems like the posts lately have been pretty awesome. Keep it up.

Cool! I'm very unexpectedly coming into an iphone sometime this week, so I look forward to wasting spending even more of my time hanging out on mefi. I used to read on public transit, but now I'll be able to make chatty meta posts 24 hours a day! Yes, villanelles at dawn, even while I'm pooping!

It's been a rough day finding out how many of you people are doing this from the toilet.

See, now I am going to just assume everything phunniemee posts is the result of some sort of bowel distress keeping her on the toilet for longer than usual.

I don't love that MetaTalk is increasingly descending into Chatfilter.

I flag chatfilter MeTas. Although of the posts you linked, I think the Halloween post is the only one that I flagged. I flagged this post, of course.

HuronBob: "it's the noobs, Dasein.... we need a better orientation process."

Metafilter's userbase has grown to the point that the small-community dynamics that made it great no longer apply.

Meh, the thread isn't about me getting the phone. It's about how lately I've found the posts to be better and I like that. It's probably just that they've been more about topics that I care about. If this gets to chat filter then so be it. But I'm an east coaster too so I'm not exactly doing this at the dinner table.

That would be tomorrow night after I get home from work and eat.
posted by theichibun at 7:45 PM on October 30, 2011

So, would this had gone differently if it had been an iPhone instead of a droid?

Yes. That is the subject. Would be is the verb. Tomorrow night.... is the phrase that finishes of the verb phrase.

That here refers to me posting things from the dinner table while the east coast mods are going to bed.

Bowel

I saw the best minds of my generation imprisoned by posts, typing
hysterical naked in the bathroom at work,
dragging themselves through the many-hued subdomains in the stalls looking for an angry
fix,
angelheaded hipsters and anti-hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly TCP/IP connection to the
starry dynamo in the machinery of the server farms,
who slacking and taters and hollow-eyed and high sat up posting in the
siderial glow of LCD display floating across the tops of
cities contemplating why your favorite band sucks,
who bared their brains to Matt under the header graphic and saw digital angels, sages, and trolls
staggering on favorite posts counted,
who passed through wikipedia with pepsi-blue eyes hallucinating Lady
GaGa and 4-day timecubes among the scholars of kookiness,
who were expelled from the lesser blogs for crazy & publishing obscene odes
on the windows of the skull,
who cowered in unshaven rooms in underwear, dragging thier to-do lists
to the recycle bin and telling the Terror through the wall to DTMFA...

Cats are capable of so much hate that their body literally has to shed it in order to make room for more hate. Naturally, people are violently allergic to it.

You have that completely backwards. Cat dander detects evil.

Miles ahead of you lad, I started being rubbish and making crappy posts years ago, before all the kids were doing it. Never did a chatfilter MeTa though, so you have that in your column.

"Cats are capable of so much hate ..."

I now have four cats locked into the mechanical room (they have litter boxes, food, and water...along with the water softener, boiler, AC air exchanger, water softener, and a sink, my tools and a bunch of other junk)...

they are there because one of the evil little critters has decided to pee in the family room, which now reeks of feline urine!

They will remain locked in that room until one of them confesses, or until the guilty party learns to pee in the litter box....

There will be no posting of cute kitty pictures with this comment... none of them are cute at this moment!

If you comment in every MetaTalk within the first hour, you can eventually unlock the Backchannel Constable badge. But if even one slips by, your favorite mobile computing device locks up and starts sending donations to an organization that works against your most cherished beliefs. It's harrowing, this place.

Since we're derailed on Homeland, I'm watching it, but just like 24 I feel like it almost HAS to be a shill for convincing people about the IMPORTANCE OF THE WAR ON TERROR, in a kind of "We have always been at war with Eastasia" kind of way. This may just be my paranoia acting up though.

Part of the reason I think that is I remember when...First Contact? Sphere? One of those movies came out, and there was an uproar because they used the image of the POTUSA w/o consent from the whitehouse. Homeland uses lots of those images, so I almost feel like it's...endorsed...or something.
