"How much can you know yourself if you've never been in a fight?" November 7, 2011 1:11 PM   Subscribe

Have you ever been in a fight?

I am curious if anyone has had the personal experience of being in a physical altercation, beyond just big talk and a pushing contest. This question is not intended to glorify fighting, rather taking a introspective journey on reasoning of the cause and consequence. Having never been in a "real" fight myself, I have wondered if I would know the appropriate time to take action vs. walk away.

The only time I've felt good about myself after a fight was in second grade when I stood up for a kid who was being picked on relentlessly. Since we were children "fight" in this instance was rolling around on the ground hitting each other on the sides and top of the head with the sides of our fists.

There has not been another physical altercation I have been involved in that I am not ashamed of to this day, whether or not I "won".

Answering this question would violate at least two rules of a club I belong to.

Also, this should not be on Metatalk. I see that you posted it on AskMe as well, but it is a bit chatty as written, and should probably be re-written.

I'm going to close this up. It's not really metafilter related at all.
