Sweet! I just re-lent last night! I love when my balance gets back up to $25--re-lending is just as fun as the original loan!

Metafilter is the #4 club all time in the amount loaned. We're #4!! Relending my balance now...

I am on two Kiva teams: Nerdfighters, from whom I get an email every day full of chatter and Metafilter, who never sends me emails. I prefer Metafilter. Thank you all.

I get so mad when I realize that the only people not paying back my loans are the ones I did in New Orleans. Makes me want to drive down there and shoplift.

Also: go team us!

Sad to say I've become disillusioned with Keva and while I am on the MF team it is only until I can pull the rest of the $ out. Godspeed to the team though, good job

I just joined and am slightly overwhelmed - any tips on how y'all have picked borrowers?

Just to say that I just joined too. I've been looking for something like this and didn't realise it was right under my nose!

My own personal philosophy for this has involved just lending to females in the retail sector. I don't know that there's a wrong way to do it. Just read a bunch of profiles and find one that strikes you.

I'm sorry. I just re-loaned my balance but credited it to the atheists. I'm with you in (metaphorical) spirit though!

Thanks for the reminder this exists; signed up today. Man, my karma would be soooo damn good if I would just go ahead and do all the things I keep meaning to do.

I was excited to see us over the 60K.

I'm on my 28th loan which is kind of crazy but really it's all the re-lending (and a soft spot for Mongolian cobblers).

In terms of picking borrowers -- I read somewhere (but I'm not sure where) that statistically single (as in not group funded) men in the middle east were less likely to be funded. Women & groups of women are funded earlier/faster. I tend to fund smaller loans for individuals who are craftsfolk/tradesmen or farmers -- folks providing "essential" service, more or less.
