Try to access Metafilter through Safari: success!! Try to access Metafilter through Chrome: routed to Mediaplex.com. Other websites are fine, this is only happening with Metafilter. Wassup with that. A problem on my end only or is this something happening to others, as well?

You get redirected to a different domain? Do you have any browser extensions installed?

No browser extensions installed. If I close tabs and reopen them it's still a problem. I'm going to close Chrome and open it up again but yes, metafilter.com won't load - it pauses then routes me to mediaplex.com

That's a DNS redirect trojan. Try clearing your cache or follow instructions here to remove it.

Closed Chrome and reopened and it's still routing me to mediaplex.com

Thanks, zarq. I nuked my history in Chrome and started it back up and it's working again. So that's a fix for at least awhile.

Shit, he figured it out. Looks like we'll need another plan to drive off (Arsenio) Hall and (Warren) Oates.

Please don't forget to remove the trojan as well!

Maybe we should send him ahead to bring us some (fettuccine) Alfredo and (huevos) Garcia and hope he goes across the border and can't get back.

Removing the trojan could lead to unintended pregnancy.

I just want to double check: you are all hearing Alice Cooper songs at full volume whenever visiting one of the MetaFilter sites, right?

The official metafilter RFC states that it should be Blondie's cover of "The Tide Is High."

The correct Blondie song is, and has always been, "Atomic".

I would prefer it if you'd play "Every 1's a Winner" by Hot CHocolate.

Exactly one Blondie song has previously auto-played when visiting MetaFilter. This is a science fact.

Damn, just how awesome are both Rapture and The Tide is High, anyway?

Wait...I can answer that. It's VERY DAMN AWESOME.

AskMediaplex gives really bad advise by the way. Don't listen. They never tell anyone to DTMFA or see a therapist.
