Fifty Shades of Eh? July 20, 2012 10:58 AM   Subscribe

I think there was a thread the other day where people started making 'Fifty Shades of Grey' jokes along the lines of 'Fifty Shades of Cray - the sexy supercomputer' and 'Fifty Shades of Tom DeLay - they don't call him The Hammer because of his statesmanship.' But now I can't find it. Am I hallucinating the whole thing?

I think you were mis-remembering that FPP about Ms. Dunaway falsifying her resume - The Shifty Grades of Faye.

Did you know that "Fifty Shades of Grey" is an anagram of "Today's Fresh Effigy"?

Think about it.

There are 254 hex triplet shades of gray.

I know it's a little icky, but as a good son I did buy my mother the excellent coffee-table book "Fifty Shades of Tapas: Sinfully Delightful Appetizers for BDSM Meetups".

This cannot possibly be a real thing.

I was once badly traumatized when I idly flipped open Fifty Shades of Dray.

Also, I'm pretty sure the other name for the Song of Solomon is Fifty Shades of Pray.

You might be thinking of the classic D&D module WG13, Fifty Shades of Greyhawk.

I am amused that after selling Fifty Shades of Gray like hotcakes to suburban housewives for three months now, Target is now also stocking Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty Trilogy as well.

OMG I just got back from visiting a friend of mine at the teeny public library where he is the new director. He had just gotten through telling me that they were basically interlibrary loaning their copy of 50 Shades out because literally no one in town wanted to read it. And then a woman came in asking for "That popular book that people are talking about fifty something...?" and he had to break it to her that their one copy was checked out and it was all I could do to not be all "This is an awful book...!" at her. No one needs that, least of all from their librarian. But that's me, fifty shades of dismay.

I went looking for the seafood cookbook Fifty Filets of Cray(fish), but accidentally came home with Fifty Shades of Cray-Cray, an alarming expose of a west-coast insane asylum run by teenaged girls who diagnose the patients as, you guessed it, "cray-cray."

Oh well, I guess I'd better get back to studying the different methods for putting together files on wrongdoers. Fifty Shades of Dossier, here I come!
