MeFi Music: The Great Request Raffle! September 1, 2013 12:13 PM Subscribe
You are cordially invited over to MeFiMusic where we would like your music/song requests, to be fulfilled for the next music challenge!
All requests will be allocated at random to anyone who has signed up to take on the challenge.
You're welcome to request anything you can think of, whether it's a custom-written tribute song to your mum, an acoustic cover of Death To All But Metal, or a musical masterpiece to go with a poem you wrote. Go crazy. We're armed with banjos, synths, ukes and other weapons of mass composition, and ready for whatever you can throw at us!
If it's popular, we might make it either ongoing or an annual thing. But first things first. If you'd like to make a request, please email MeFiRequestRaffle@outlook.com. If you're a musician and want to take up the challenge, please visit the challenge thread here and drop your name in the hat.
The resulting magnum opuses (opera? opi?) will be posted as and when they're finished to the MeFiMu frontpage, with a deadline of November 1st to be included in the Grand Collation of Results.

Since it's Labour Day weekend, how about songs for the working Mefite? Could be extended to protest songs etc.

Question: can each member only make one request? Or can we make multiple requests? (And no, I am not planning on making an individual request for each song that Paul Weller has ever written, although now that I mention it...)

Billiebee & Scody: I think more than one request is totally fine - we have lots of musicians wanting to take up the challenge so we shouldn't be short of people to fulfil them, although they may arrive in the style of dishes at a "contemporary" restaurant, ie. at time intervals governed by the forces of chaos.

So... anyone who thought of a request but never made it, send it in!
If you think your request is too obscure, think again. I've already started sending out the ones we've received so far, and those which I thought might be the toughest to fulfil are the ones where the recipient has mailed me back saying how excited they are to do it!

Heard about this on the podcast. I wrote a dirty poem that I want to convert into a dirty blues song, but alas, I'm not a musician. I'll dig it up, update it, and submit it. :)
