MetaFilter member Rhaomi's Periodic Table of Breaking Bad promoted at Boing Boing Neatorama as Chemistry or Art?

Isn't that link to Neatorama?

Anyway, utterly deserved.

Isn't that link to Neatorama?

Everything that isn't metafilter sort of blends together into a big awful smear.

Neatorama is the new Boing Boing.

And, incidentally, The Presurfer is the new Neatorama, HiLoBrow is the new Presurfer, Things Magazine is the new HiLoBrow, Brain Pickings is the new Things Magazine, Dark Roasted Blend is the new Brain Pickings, Geekosystem is the new Dark Roasted Blend, and Boing Boing is the new Geekosystem.

Try to keep up, people.

DOH! I had both Boing Boing and Neatorama open at the same time. Got them confused. I'm going with the excuse aubilenon offered- if it's not The Blue, it blurs.

I'll take a look when it goes up on Memepool.

Going on 400 comments. Are any of them about the things that were behind all the blind links? It seems like just an open chat thread.

I bet that's what this thread becomes too.

I have yet to watch the finale, so off to do that before I land in that thread.

I like that post a lot more than I like Breaking Bad, which is, a little bit. I can't imagine hating Breaking Bad, but I'm glad its over so people can go back to worshiping Mad Men.

It seems like just an open chat thread.

Sometimes when there are big TV events people make posts that are basically "Let's talk about the latest/current episode of _______" and this is fine. It's even better when they make an effort to do something interesting with their post.

Neatorama is the new Boing Boing ... Try to keep up, people.

Always with the new things that suck, but never with a new Suck.

In any case, it's always bonus points when someone uses "mefite" off-site.

I'm pretty much the king of never finishing TV series. Never got through The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Walking Dead or Lost. I haven't even started Breaking Bad yet. Hopefully if I run into any spoilers, I won't remember them by around 2019 when I actually watch it.
posted by octothorpe at 7:43 AM on September 30, 2013 [4 favorites]

Honestly, re: spoilers...the spoiler-packed episodes all happened earlier in the season, like 13-15. The finale certainly had its ohhh snap moments, but it was quietly satisfying. I stayed up waaaaay late last night to watch it so I wouldn't run into any spoilers throughout the course of today, but honestly, since I've kind of assumed that the endgame would be all throughout, the finale really wasn't ruinable. In my opinion. At least not in the sense that the 4th season finale was.

Is this where I say that I think Aaron Paul is my spirit animal?

Mod note: I have amended the post text slightly on request from the poster because, hey, yeah.

Neatorama reposts a lot of stuff from Metafilter, both in terms of the stuff Metafilter links to, and cool comments and so forth. And I think they do it right. They always give credit, and they always link back to the actual thread, not just to the front page (like boing boing does). I've found lots of great Metafilter posts from Neatorama that I would have otherwise missed. So, hooray for Neatorama/Metafilter cross pollination!

Memepool's still alive? Since March 2012? Why wasn't I told?

As long as they pronounce it properly.

I am waiting for the FPP linking the BoingBoing post and the inevitable GRAR over Cory and/or Xeni.
posted by briank at 9:00 AM on September 30, 2013

I pointed this out in the actual thread yesterday and no one in that thread seemed to notice. I'm glad Rhaomi's finally getting the attention he deserves.

The question I have is how did he create an FPP without a link?

The post used to be more (all?) above the fold but it broke people's view of the site on mobile browsers so we edited it and moved it below the fold.

Yeah, the Blue is addictive that way.

Come on, there's been a thread referencing Breaking Bad for this long and no one's made that joke yet?

Wow Jessamyn, is that the result of years of intensive librarian training, or are you actually omniscient?

I'd say embrace it and act like you have no idea what's going on.

_paegan_, it is a nice touch to link to the Metafilter post as well as the member like so:

MetaFilter member Rhaomi's Periodic Table of Breaking Bad promoted at Boing Boing Neatorama as Chemistry or Art?
posted by mlis at 2:39 AM on October 1, 2013 [1 favorite]

That post should be sidebarred, and Rhaomi's username should be sporting a gold star. There's awesome, and then there's seriously awesome, and then there's Rhaomi's Periodic Table of Breaking Bad. It obviously took a lot of work and is really well done. Kudos and then some. I say this as someone who hasn't (yet) watched breaking bad. Is this something one would need a tv to understand?
posted by theora55 at 3:12 PM on October 1, 2013

I will bear all these lessons in mind, I assure all of you.

Please don't sidebar this post. I'm so embarrassed.
