Seeking ragga video February 15, 2014 8:26 AM   Subscribe

I seem to recall several years ago a post to the blue that featured a YouTube video of some ragga/dancehall song from the 80s. The song lyrics and video featured a dreadlocked Jamaican who encountered a policeman. I think the policeman called the first guy "Dreadlocks." Dreadlocks claimed to be transporting vegetables to town, but the policeman thought he had marijuana and arrested him. I have tried many Google search strategies and haven't found this. Did it really appear on the blue or am I imagining things?

did you try "reggae" instead of "ragga"?

You are not imagining things. I remember the video as well, though not the name of the artist.

The synopsis vaguely matches that in Pass the Dutchie, which was featured in this post.

It was the subject of a deleted post. The video was by Lt Stichie, and the mischaracterization as "ragga" was in the FPP.

Best answer! Thanks!

It's the first Google hit for [ ragga]. I should have thought of that as I had some inkling it might have been deleted.

the mischaracterization as "ragga" was in the FPP.

It's not a mischaracterisation, Lieutenant Stitchie was a raggamuffin and Natty Dread is a ragga song!

Fun dancehall/fruit fact: Stitchie is called Stitchie because of a misprint on a record label. Up until that mistake his name was Citchie, which was short for his original deejay name, Ranking Citrus. He was called Ranking Citrus due to a lifelong fondness for oranges. Really!

I am now officially crushing on jack_mo and his esoteric ragga knowledge! *waggles eyebrows*
