As of yesterday, June 18, 2014, I am, for the very first time in my 43 years, a homeowner. On behalf of all of the 4sters, I would like to offer some words of thanks.
This is a Big Deal for me, and I want to call out some Mefites who helped me when I was probably (much) more freaked out about the process than I was letting on, even to members of my family.
So, here's to you, Gingho, Admiral Haddock, Flamingo, valkyryn, Dip Flash, devinemissk, JoeZydeco, VTX, and Violet Hour.
Simply "marking as best answer" did not seem like enough. Thank you everyone. Thank you so much. You just never know how much making the time for simple and small acts of kindness matter to others' lives.

(Yes, you can drink the punch, we spiked it with Everclear so you can drink it a decade from now it and will still be fine.)

It may have been indirect, yeah. It was meant as a welcome, in a round about way, but I can certainly see how that may not be clear.
I hope I haven't soured your impression of MetaFilter, Westinghouse, on your first day.

God I wish I had read that question two weeks ago when I was on the phone with my mortgage company every day trying to get them just one more piece of information. Everything worked out fine (closed a week ago!) but the reassurance would have been nice. Congrats on your house, 4ster.
