So what happened about the MeFi Swap II? July 8, 2002 6:35 AM Subscribe
So what happened about the MeFi Swap II? Is it still going ahead? I signed up, but I'm still waiting to receive my list. I thought the list was supposed to be sent out by the 5th July.
I got my list this morning.
Oddly enough, toddshot is on it.
toddshot, I hope you like N'Sync.

I'm amazed that no-one has mentioned the illegality of this project.

It's okay to rip CD's for archival purposes, and this project simply provides an offsite archive that someone listens to occasionally (to make sure the archive is still good).

Now I get it. Anyone have an archival copy of Photoshop 7.0 (Mac version please) that they'd like me to store for them? I promise to check it regularly.

timeistight: certainly. I require a deposit of $20. Just to make sure I get the archival copy back later, you understand.
(Now you're getting the hang of it.)

the swap list mail server is on the osiru blacklist for open relays. if you didn't get your email, check to make sure it didn't get filtered into a spam folder.

Got the list today too. Dunno if I can compete with N'Sync, Tibetan throat-singing and Andrew Lloyd Weber but will give it a go.

Don't tempt me. I'll send out the recording of the production of Oklahoma *I* was in. I know you're all itching to hear my rendition of 'The Farmer And The Cowman'.

I'm not sure where the security hole is (still working on figuring that out) but yes, somehow or other I'm now supposedly a spammer. This pisses me off more than words, and has blocked mail from getting through to several folks on my original attempt, but not others -- and never with any explanation, just a bounce. This *just* happened, I was able to get the confirmations to everyone last week, I don't know if this is a problem with my ISP or my domain host. I could scream.
In any case, at this point, all indications point toward foaf and modofo as the only people who have not received their lists so far. Is there anyone else?

I also haven't received a list yet. Which is a shame, because I'm sure everyone's waiting in breathless anticipation for those tracks I pulled off Disney's "Hercules" soundtrack.

and now it's in my head THANKS SO MUCH.

I have e-mailed everyone in my list except sad_otter. The e-mail keeps getting bounced back.
There was a small typo in my e-mail, but an important typo that will have you sending cd's to my 96 year old neighbor down the street.
Maybe she'll like Hall and Oates.

Okay -- EVERYONE who reported to me that they did not get a list should now have a list. Especially so if you provided a secondary e-mail address like a yahoo or hotmail kind of thing, in which case I doubled up and sent to both of your addresses just to be sure.
If you haven't received a list by now, I'm thoroughly perplexed and ready to bang my head against the nearest convenient wall. But we can find alternatives, I'm sure.
As to late signups, I got an e-mail asking today, plus the request here in the thread, plus I have someone who'd actually like to be in a second swapset, and I suppose I could be inspired to get involved in a second so that's four people. We could do an abbreviated send 3/get 3 swapset or, if there are two more people who didn't get to sign up who'd like to jump in, well, why not. Let me know whatcha think, and I'll put it together.
Btw, I will say for the record, that in my bizarre, eclecticism, I would welcome both music from Oklahoma and carious ditties from those kings of blue-eyed soul, Hall and Oates. Bring 'em on!

Carious Ditties. Sounds like a band name. See Dreama smack herself in the head and whine pitiously, then slink away to eat some dinner and leave MeFi Swapping to its own devices for a little while...
