I'm a big fan of the 'popular favorites' page, but at the moment, the comments half features a number of posts from the Star Wars Fanfare thread. At least one of which contains about as large a spoiler as I can imagine - it kind of sucked to learn how the movie ends when I was just checking to see if Greg Nog made any good good jokes this week. Should Fanfare comments maybe be ineligible for that particular page?

That's an interesting dilemma, yeah. The spoilery nature of a comment isn't unique to FanFare—the same thing could happen in e.g. a discussion thread on the blue or a great detailed answer on the green—but it may be sufficiently different in terms of likelihood that we should think about excluding or somehow warning about it for those. Definitely something worth chewing on.

If you add Greg Nog as a contact, all of Greg Nog's posts and any of Greg Nog's posts or comments with 12 or more favorites, and any AskMe answer marked "Best Answer," will show up on your Contact Activity sidebar.

This applies to every user you add as a contact, not just Greg Nog.

It seems like spoilers are a pure 100% accepted condition in Fanfare threads. Even if you're not allowed to spoil future episodes, you're allowed to spoil the episode/movie/book/etc. in question. The rest of the site is just buyer beware but that applies to everyone, spoil not lest ye be spoiled. Everyone decided not to spoil anyone else this time.

In a perfect world there would be a "spoiler" check box when you make your post and everyone could set their preferences to show posts with spoilers or not. No more debate!

I know IMDB has a check box where it puts a spoiler tag at the front but it doesn’t actually block anything.

the entire purpose of fanfare is to discuss the episode that is currently happening in the post for that episode. how can you discuss the episode without "spoiling" it?

That's my point. Spoilers are expected in Fanfare comments. They're distinct from other comments that way.

If I'm reading this correctly, the request is that Greg Nog stop making jokes, right?

Do not take my Greg Nog, please.

I stopped looking at popular favorites here and recent posts pages on a couple of other message board type sites I visit because of this. I will rectify the situation soon by going to see the film. The Internet is not waiting for me so I'm going to step up.

I've read that if you make your Greg Nog with plenty of booze and let it age in the fridge for 3 weeks, it's safe for consumption.

As time progresses since the release of the movie (or any movie, show, book, etc.), you are more likely to encounter spoilers in random places as people who've already watched it move from not wanting to spoil it for others to assuming anyone who really cares has already seen it. People want to talk about the things that interest them.

This post makes me sad because it reminds me I'm out of egg nog.

Perhaps we should implement a spoiler cut a la Livejournal? IDK how much of a pain it would be to support but it certainly works well IME.

I'm about to go see Star Wars in a little while and this is the first movie I have actually avoided spoilers for for awhile. Except for one fairly major one, and I searched that out on purpose. But yes, thank you all for being good about this one movie.

I Met The Taters Lady

I missed this! Someone met the taters lady? Anyone have a link?

Actually, as soon as you add any user as a contact, only jokes by Greg Nog show up. Something pb should fix.

I suspect that likeatoaster will neither confirm nor deny this speculation.

Some days my sidebar contacts activity is 95% WhelkNog and I imagine they're like wild favoriting horses and I'm all whoa, whoa, settle down there, boys, easy, big fellas
