If you haven't visited the All Your Base 15 year anniversary post since it was first posted, you should. HINT: it's a font thing.

Internet confession: I checked the "this needs community input" box when making this MeTa, and I felt a spark of rebellion and regret.

So is this what meta is now? Just an advertisement for the blue?

How meta.

This Meta post is the MeFi equivalent of "Hey, there's cake in the break room!".

I liked it! More or less unconsciously I often ask "what happen?" instead of "what's happening?" or "what happened?" or "what's going on?". The lack of tense is really freeing.

I'm going to be the jerkface and say that I think it made the thread unreadable.

That's kind of like saying that the autotune in "I'm on a Boat" made it unlistenable. That thread is pretty much, "I'm in a Font."

Sorry, I checked again and it's carrot cake. You'll probably want to scrape some of the icing off too — there's like an inch of that stuff on there, and it's .... not good. Dammit, people, who picks up a birthday cake from CVS?

I don't remember any other font jokes, specifically, but a couple other one-off thread display tweaks are the rebeccapurple thread in honor of Eric Meyer's daughter, and the disemvoweling MetaTalk from April 1, 2009.

Also good christ but it's weird to reread that old 2009 MetaTalk where the joke was that (a) there had been a financial crisis and (b) I was in charge.

The general theory of irony predicts that every joke, born a creature of weightless whimsy, will eventually harden into an undeniable and frightening fact.

I switched to Classic Theme to check to see if it still worked, and OMG I MISS YOU SO MUCH CLASSIC THEME.

I like how it's always that random thing you spent maybe 30 seconds on (*) that "goes viral", as compared to that thing you spent months collecting links and snippets for.

*) plus another 30 or so to mail the moderation crew asking if they could maybe ungarble the bit that got messed up by a last-second rephrasing.
