The most exciting news of all! July 7, 2016 9:34 AM   Subscribe

Good people of Metafilter, rejoice and welcome to the world Holley Evelyn (Pterodactyl), newborn baby of Mrs. Pterodactyl and Bulgaroktonos!

Baby Holley joined the world just before 4am this morning, weighing in at 9 lbs 10 oz, with a charming demeanor and two wonderful parents. Mom is doing well, and Dad reports that Holley aced her Apgar, "carrying on the family tradition of excellent performance on standardized tests." Even more exciting, there are photos of the baby looking particularly snuggly and cute!

CONGRATULATIONS Mrs. Pterodactyl and Bulgaroktonos, WELCOME baby Holley (and snuggles and kisses!), and YAY HAPPY HOORAY just generally, all around!

Please share your congratulations for Mom & Dad along with comments about the cuteness, snuggliness, and otherwise preciousness of their new baby, and any suggestions you may have for her mefi username, which I can only assume will be issued shortly.

Hooray, and congratulations! Holley Evelyn is an exceptional baby on all fronts, clearly!

Maiasaura - a dinosaur known for parental care - seems like it'd be an acceptable username for a small Pterodactyl.

Hello, Holley. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, Holley—God damn it, you've got to be kind.

Current MeFi Baby Count: 28.

The most exciting part of fatherhood was when they handed her to me for the first time and I actually experienced all the cheesy bonding stuff from the Hallmark cards.

The second is just now, when they brought me an old pull out sofa to sleep on and it's just so magical, I've slept like four hours since 4 am Wednesday morning. I love my sofa child so much. He's green and feels like rough plastic.

If I remember our earlier conversations, we had our baby at the same hospital 2 months ago, and yeah, I remember those sofas. Pro tip: ask for a little battery-operated fan, because those rooms get stuffy as fuck, and it's summer. You even get to take the fan home with you.

Our room is the worst! The intake for the A/C looks like a nightclub dust bunnies don't go to anymore because it's too crowded. I just went outside in DC in July for "fresh air." The nice gentleman from maintenance who moved the couch despite making it clear that it was not his job and was surely going to destroy his shoulder is bringing a fan soon.

Yay! This is wonderful news.

The intake for the A/C looks like a nightclub dust bunnies don't go to anymore because it's too crowded.

I am sorry to hear about your room, and hope the fan helped. That being said -- this sentence itself is great and made me laugh, and I needed a laugh. Thank you :) (It sounds like a memorable line from a character in a detective story)

Best to you all, and hope you continue to get some well-deserved rest!

I am super late to my own party (well sort of, obviously mostly it's a party to celebrate our cuddly little monster) but thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness and kind wishes! It really means a lot and I am super, SUPER grateful to have the support of this community. So many people have been so kind and helpful and I wanted to say a few special thanks starting with a large number of DC Mefites including everyone but especially duffell/catastrophewaitress and kat518 who have all been really supportive and great about answering my pregnancy/birth/newborn questions and Eyebrows McGee who, despite her own (recently completed!) pregnancy was UNBELIEVABLY patient and kind about responding to my panicky first-time pregnancy queries like "WTF how does anyone survive this?" and "Can you literally die of anxiety?" and "God this sure is the worst thing, huh?".

Really though thank you so much to everyone; we feel really happy at this particular moment (because she is asleep) and it means a lot to know other people are happy for us too.
