MeFi post degenerating into holocaust debate August 29, 2002 11:18 AM Subscribe
The development of a fun-mefi posting into a debate about the nature of the holocaust - any productive outcome imaginable?
I agree, but will the inherent tragic of the topic "holocaust" not raise emotions which will prevent a serious discussion about this topic as I have witnessed a gazillion times before on the Internet?

My only regret is that i couldn't find the story online under the headline i originally saw: 'Shoe In 'Nazi Gas' Apology'.

I'm lost. zerofoks, what exactly do you mean by a "fun-mefi posting?" I thought the thread was interesting and evolved naturally into a quite civilized discussion about the Holocaust.

How about a haiku?
The development
of a fun mefi-posting
into a debate.
The post itself is about the holocaust -- or, rather, a blunder on the part of a sweatwear maker that reminded people of the holocaust. So any debate thereafter about the holocaust is a legitimate discussion of the posted material, in my opinion. You can't post stuff like that and just hope that people will focus on the funny and not the tragic.
