Or: brilliant examples of MetaFilter at its best.
A random search of "ascii" turned up a bright bunch of informed posts, which I thought might be good examples of (semi) perfect FP posts.

I wholeheartedly agree with hama7. A good call! For those of us who are not in the know, unlike Slashdot or others, MetaFilter is superb at building techie posts which are not closed to outsiders and where there's always someone willing to explain what might seem obvious to us curious, but clueless folks. They allow us a glimpse into a fascinating world (I specially like design threads, with lots of expert criticism and inside knowledge) which would otherwise be off bounds.

Yes sir! I am definitely not in the know, but from what I've seen at MetaFilter, that doesn't make much difference, thankfully.
Well said, and thanks, M. Carduso.

So is that a MetaFilterWhack? Search MeFi for a single word that returns more than a handful of good non-news posts?

IMO, one of the nicest things that can be done in metatalk is the occasional posting of good examples.
Nice job, hama7.

So is that a MetaFilterWhack?
If that's good, then yes. I was just checking to make sure I wasn't going to be redundant, and lo and behold: there they were.
Psst..Miguel, can you still fix me up with a new handle?

For my money, these were two of the best all week. I'm still rooting through the Folk Art post.

P.S. No, I'm not president of the Vacipinta fan club. But I could be.
