Mefi Art & Makers Group, Update November 15, 2021 3:45 PM Subscribe
You may have seen the first post, here. What begin as an idea for a visual arts group sharing their current works, turned into an idea for a group that would include anyone that makes any kind of thing at all, to share their thing weekly (or bi-monthly). I saw maybe 16 interested parties, but only five made it over to our first posting board, here: Mefi Art & Maker's Club Introductions.
You are still welcome to post there! (Big pink plus sign in bottom right - or you can comment on other people's posts). You do not have to join that platform to do these things.
The biggest hurdle currently is that I need a way to let people know when a new board for new things has been posted. (Though, you can always post to a previous board. Anyone at any time can post to the original board, linked above. I don't see any reason to delete them.)
Anyway, I thought about creating an email list for weekly (or bi-monthly) reminders, but I don't think everyone will be comfortable providing an email address. So, I am going to try to send MeMails (though I have not tested whether I can send a MeMail to multiple users, can I? I would not want to do one at a time.)
ALSO, just because you are on this list and receiving MeMails does not mean you are obligated to make any contributions at all. But it would be nice if you did! But nobody is going to monitor who actually posted or commented. This means you are invited even if you are only thinking about making things. It may inspire you to start your thing!
If you're making stuff you'd like to share (which is a great thing to do if you are making stuff), whether it's painting or crochet or origami or lathing or poems or recipes or anything at all that is a thing you made or are making or thinking of making, whether novice or otherwise, and you'd like to see what some of your fellow Mefites are working on,
then post here or send me a MeMail.
If you do that, it means you do not mind receiving a MeMail from me maybe twice a month to remind you about this club, to go see what people are making, and with a link to the newest board for posting. (Of course you can ask to be removed from this list at any time.)
If you do not like the platform, or you have other kinds of questions or concerns, please share. Any of the details can be adjusted if better options are suggested. (You should totally join though.)

Hello lovely art people! To answer the question -- it's not possible to send MefiMail to more than one person at a time. To send out group reminders, the best way is regular email addresses.

-a request for a regular email address, to be added to a bcc email group.
(And I will continue to Memail those who prefer NOT to supply an email)
-a link to the current board, maybe with some notes about it
-a link to a new December board
The current plan as mentioned is to leave all boards open, so people can visit or revisit previous postings. I am thinking about bi-monthly reminder emails/Memails, but new boards just once a month. (That could change, I just don't know how things will work out yet/how many people will stay engaged.)
You do not have to join Padlet in order to post or comment. However, if you do not join your name will show as "anonymous" so if you want your Mefi handle (or other name) associated with your post or comment, just be sure to include it in the text. (Or don't if you don't want to.)
Please share any thoughts or concerns.

Since I can still post here, and people may still be finding this post, here is a link to the new December 2021 board!
Per Too-Ticky's excellent suggestion, each board will have a link to other boards as one of the posts on it. Still trying to work out all the logistics. All comments welcome.
