Congratulations on both the marriage and the awesome surprise wedding! I have no regrets about how Mr Epigrams and I tied the knot, but I had fantasies about doing a surprise wedding. So great to see someone carry it off successfully!

We are largely thrilled with how this story came out, but the writer did get a couple of details wrong- the party was not in Red Hook, it was at the old Rubulad space at Flushing and Classon, down by the Navy Yard. And the last line was not a quote from Dr. Who. It was: You now go forward with your eternal life, but from this day as husband and wife. Based on a thing from Schopenhauer, "This is your eternal life". which is one of my little mottoes. It means obviously live as if this is it, and over time, it has come to be something we say about our lives together, like when I make her laugh so hard whisky comes out of her nose, she'll turn to whoever else is here and say "this is my eternal life."
