search didn't find double; what's up? March 3, 2003 11:12 AM   Subscribe

So, I did a search here on "search functionality" and found an indepth thread about search terms. What is the deal with searching for an href? Is that not the most important thing? My post a few moments ago was a double. Though no link was provided I trust that it was indeed posted before.

Is url matching the most difficult thing or what?

Evidently the search function needs some tweaking. I did a double post myself here today-it didn't show up as a double url when I checked. Matt knows there's a problem and says he'll take a look at it.

It's mirrored at a different url, so it wouldn't have helped anyway. Here's your double, so you see the video was on a different site. I just searched "Bush Blair" in the MeFi search for the last month and it said nothing. I searched the Google record with "love Bush Blair video", which is your next step and I found it.

The MeFi search has always been spotty, and this isn't that old so you could have just done the archive method and text searched for Blair. Ding!

On Preview: Even that is a double. Here's your original which was at yet another url.

Actually, I see the original thread had folktrash's url in the last comment, so I guess the url search would have helped. God damnit.

urls are searched, but only the full URL. Since it was a different server, it wasn't seen.

That said, the search engine has seemed screwy lately.
