Are we now outright encouraging NewsFilter? [more inside]

I understand there is the obligatory war thread, but are we actually encouraging MetaFilter to become a clearing house for war news with an Iraq Tracker?

Yes I know that the sidebar has always been there, but are we now expecting & encouraging breaking news / to the minute updates to be posted to the blue?

Not bitching, I just want to know what the policy is.

I was making a joke, poking fun at CNN's constant insistence that I download their Iraq Tracker so I can be pummeled with their news 24/7 from every device I own.

well spotted, clearly regime change must be addressed immediately with respect to metafilter.

"I just want to know what the policy is."

Policy addendum 23.4.a: Members will retain a sense of humor at all times. If your first thought is, "you *must* be joking", please explore the possibility that the person is indeed joking. (otherwise referred to as the "unclench doctrine")

BUT SEE 23.4.a(i): Joking during wartime is NOT allowed. Be serious, dammit.

Only when we remove Matthowie from power and disarm Metafilter of it's sidebar of mass-destruction will we declare ourselves victorious.

This is not ironic. Just Matt's personal joke.

When someone finds a news source that has nothing about the war on it, could they tell me?

I won't be holding my breath, however.

All it really lacks is CNN's Iraq Tracker theme song...
