About Metafilter.... May 4, 2003 2:55 PM   Subscribe

I changed the link in the main metafilter nav from "donate" to "etc" which links to this grab bag page of various metafilter resources. I don't want to mimic the wikis or faqs, but wanted a place to hold a bunch of common resources that come up often. Suggestions for additions are welcome.

Looks like a very useful resource that will help a lot of Mefi users. Also great to see that the Mefi scholarship will be run again this year.

wow. I guess nothing says "humor" like a headline in comic sans.

Good idea Matt. Though I feel like you should keep a 'donate' button somewhere obvious, so people keep using the thing. That money can go to good causes, like me.

I always vaguely remembered the first scholarship, and thought it was a really class thing to do. Good to see it might come back.

It would be hilarious if you were to see a link to plastic on the grab bag page, listed under "Places to go when you can't get a Metafilter account."

none of those (riffola) seem to work for me (except ones that are off-site).

riffola ? (!)

riffola used relative urls (which works fine on a user page, because user pages are on www.metafilter.com), so the links all go to metatalk.metafilter.com/... .

To fix 'em, remove the 'metatalk.' part from each url (optionally replacing it with 'www.').

Sorry I just copied them from my profile. I forgot I use relative urls :)

I'd love to take your money, Boss. Just tell me what to do.

ah, ok! (looks like mouseover on mozilla "normalizes" links rather than showing what's in the source)

bar (install); links; users (members with profiles); zip; lofi; gopher; xml feed; day without weblogs; link and think; change log; stats; MeFi Mail; gawker.mefi NYC feed; Contribution index; MeFi Swap.

MetaFilter Meetings calendar (iCal format)
MeFi-Central-Canada mailing list

Neither are much in use, but there's potential, dammit.

mathowie: A classy move linking to the *filters. Thank you.

Since y2karl appears to be making a habit of one-link-per-letter-content-in-the-title-attribute posts, and just in case this style catches on, could you add a link to tss's y2karlulator?

It's rather useful in any situation where people have written tomes in the title attribute, actually.

y2karlulator

That is awesome. Heh.

(A good post to try it out on, if you haven't already, is 25563.)

I second (third?) the inclusion of lofi on the list.

Metafilter remixed, too.

You could add a link to the MeFi CafePress site. And another *filter site you could add is QueerFilter.com.

queerfilter is a great idea!
