I'm willing to bet that it's just a case of forgotten identity. It happens all the time. I walk into a house and look around and say to myself "Hey this is some snappy place some sombitch has here". I wonder around for a while and it hits me that it's my place. I'm sure that's what happen here.

I just edited that out. It's far from the first time that's happened before, which is pretty surprising to me since it seems like a blatant self-link.

How often do you hear the following in conversation?

"Oh I heard this great story today (from me)"

Great catch, quonsie.

And good call, y2k! (Hoist, or at least sentenced, by his own petard):
Level 8- the Malebolge -
Many and varied sinners suffer eternally in the multi-leveled Malebolge, an ampitheatre-shapped pit of despair Wholly of stone and of an iron colour: Those guilty of fraudulence and malice

Good one quonsar.

No comments are available on his self link [site], so he wants feedback from, hey, lookit that!

It's ok, he does it on the self linked site to his own company [more self links], however, under the heading "links", there is only a link of one, to his own company site.

That's focused? It should be singular.

The word, not the action.

Next stop, Level 10.

I sometime do the opposite, where I'm telling a story about something I did or said that was funny, but attribute it to some-made-up-person so it doesn't sound like I'm saying "listen to this funny thing I said!" which is, in fact, exactly what I'm saying.

"... and then my co-worker, um, Mikel, said 'rectum! It nearly killed 'im!' Ah hah hah hah! Holy shit my co-worker Mike is funny. Hah hah! Isn't he?! Isn't my coworker Mark funny?! I mean Mike! Don't you think? That's he's funny?!"

But, I mean, we all do that.

Gee, Gore's crotch newsworthiness hadn't come to my attention before. Could that have driven Bush to desperate measures?

Heh heh! Of course we do! We all do that! Oh, man, that is so true!!!

yes
posted by ginz at 1:20 PM on May 19, 2003

Interesting. Shadowkeeper's gold star does not appear in preview mode (presumably stan chin's doesn't either - they're the only two "mattie's boys" who've been given stars so far, afaik).

This is probably related to the same bug feature that makes the usernames (instead of the usernumbers) show up in preview mode as well.

p.s. But slightly less than the goldstar people.

soyjoy...

I figured as much, but if we all start indiscriminatly adding and subtracting our stars eventually we'll all go back to being regular sneetchs.

Wait, no. That wasn't the moral was it?
posted by KnitWit at 2:28 PM on May 19, 2003

What I want to know is, are there a finite number of stars to work with? Is it a constant amount? If so, where does Matt keep all the extras?

I hope this doesn't somehow loop back to codpieces.

(b) for making fun of Miguel in a clever way, without being really nasty about it. (note to quonsar - it was stan chin that did the photoshop you describe, and so earned the 1st golden star).

(c) for kissing Matt's rosy red bike-riding
