Is anyone interested in another round of the MeFi Swap? January 13, 2004 11:38 PM   Subscribe

I hate to use MeTa for this purpose, but I figure it's worth asking: is anyone interested in another round of the MeFi Swap? I've received a grand total of 8 e-mails about it since the unannounced and unintended skipping of the '03/Q3 and '03/Q4 swaps, so I'm not sure if there's still enough interest to get things going again.

If there is interest, though, I'm ready to tackle the administrative side of things once again and will open signups for a new quarter ASAP, probably as soon as next Monday. So let me know, folks, if there's still a desire to do this.

And I was just about to Ask MeFi if there were any active swaps out there...please count me in!

I'm in. Even got a cd-labeler.
Sgt. serenity: nope, I'm, in Chile and have greatly enjoyed the past 2.

Finally! A reason for all those Amazon & HMV padded envelopes I never seem to throw out, or otherwise put to good use.

I knew they'd come in handy someday!

They all said I was a hoarder, but I knew... I knew!

And another interested party here. That's what, three swapsets already?

I've missed the past swaps, but would like to get involved too, if another one is set up.

I just want to pop in and apologize in front of everyone for being such a heel back in Swap II. I had just moved and was changing jobs and didn't make the swap a priority. It's no excuse, but guys like me ruin it for everyone. Sorry folks.

dreama: rock! count me in, although i have to battle the annual cd burner demise.
posted by myopicman at 7:07 AM on January 14, 2004

Dreama, I'm still in! I didn't drop you an email about the lack of swaps because I figured you had Real Life going on and didn't need a lot of MeSwappers emailing you.

The MeFiSwap was fun and I'd happily do it again. Life is a bit too chaotic right now to want to commit to it, though; if you run another one in Q2, I'll probably participate then.

I'd be in for a swap.

I also run a mixed cd-trading yahoogroup that is active all year round. Drop me an email via yahoogroups if you are interested.

I'm in - been wondering when we'd start up again (and to echo a few others, I didn't email 'cause I figured you were busy)

Thank goodness! I have missed the swaps so that I had to create my own little swap with a few friends. Glad to have you back.

My heart is warmed. MeFi Swap 04/Q1 signups will commence on Monday.

Dreama, I haven't emailed you -- it seemed like you were busy -- but I've been checking the site every week or so. Thanks for doing this.

I would love to get in on this. I just did a swap with friends from another forum, and heard some great stuff I otherwise wouldn't have ever discovered.

Dreama, I was just looking around the Swap Site yesterday wondering what ever happened to it. I'll swap! Yay!

I've been playing around with ideas for the next swap. Glad to hear it's back on and all that thought wasn't in vain. :)

Seems to me like the Swap would get greater interest if it were run twice a year instead of four times a year. I remember when I participated a while back, it seemed like right after the end of one, the next was gearing up to start. A bit of down-time between them would, I think, really raise the "Cool! A New Swap!" factor that we're seeing in this thread.

The swap is great, Dreama, and your are one of my Mefi Gods.

No need to deify me, please. I'm fairly sure that I wouldn't be able to refrain from self-worship and that would be idolatry, which would make my rabbi plotz. Anyway... I was just about to send out a notice to the Swapnews-l list to poll on the idea of a semi-annual swap instead of a quarterly one. I shall do that before another dawn.

Do I need to add my "me too" here or just wait until Monday and sign up?

Deama - count me in too.

Oop. Sorry about that typo. I was too eager for new music.

Dreama - count me in too.
posted by troutfishing at 9:31 AM on January 16, 2004

yeah, I'm in too - I always miss the sign up period because I don't check in at the site often enough. It might be worth putting a MeTa thread up (or maybe a sidebar link via matt or something?) to let us know whenever sign ups are open...
posted by mdn at 10:57 AM on January 16, 2004

Yeah; using MeTa to promote the Swap is another great way to get things rolling. Everybody reads MeTa, but forgetful fools like myself rarely remember to check the actual swap site.

I don't know how i managed to not do this to begin with, but would definitely be interested in a new round.

I'd love to sign up - like everyone else, I've been aware of the Swap for ages, but always seem to miss the window of opportunity...

*sighs*

Thank goodness the swapping will begin again! My toes have been twitching for new tapping music for months now. I'm so glad to see that Dreama's feeling rejuvenated and that other Mefites are still into swapping.

YAY.
