No votes to remove posts from Metafilter? February 5, 2004 3:03 PM   Subscribe

I don't know if it has been proposed before (I don't generally read MetaTalk), but THIS LINK makes me yearn for some kind of "no" vote system where if a post gets a certain number or percentage of "no" it gets taken off the front page. It wouldn't be necessarily easy to implement or tune, but it would help. It would also help remove FPP's that TURN OUT TO BE TOTAL BUNK.

I figured it had been talked about but...

I understand that Matt doesn't want to be too harsh about posts that might actually interest some people, so consensus is the way to go.

Anyway. Mark me down is "yes" on "no".

As far as "funny" goes, feel free to voice your opinion in the thread if it bothers you in some regard. I tend to avoid that as much as possible, but I know it sometimes can't be avoided (see: my contribution to the princeton rap "satire" thread).

What's your problem with it, Mc? It's not NewsFilter after all.

Bunk FPP's are among the most interesting because you can read the thread and see them debunked.

I proposed a system to do this a while back. Regardless of what system is used, I would think that voting to delete (or promote) threads is almost essential before new users are let back in.

I vote now that we delete all the new users' threads once they post 'em. Who the hell do they think they are, anyway?

M. Alain Juppé, the former French prime minister, was convicted, along with 21 others connected to President Jacques Chirac, of offences relating to funding of the Rassemblement pour la République; he was barred from public office for ten years, but is appealing.

In fact, downright irresistible.
