So many of us spent some time at Monkeyfilter while the server was down and it's time to ask again about opening up membership. Pretty please? with sugar on top?

But the losers can't even spell properly over there.

eh, we're not that good at it here either...if the posts/discussions there are any indication, they'd be an asset (for those worried about quality of newbie contributions)

I don't understand why everyone over at Monkeyfilter wants to get in here. That's a great community evolving over there.

I was just being facetious. Don't we have enough people here already, especially as we've been deprived of posting for nearly a week? (Not that I have anything FPP-worthy, I hasten to add.)

That's a great community evolving over there.

They seem to be doing pretty well, so why don't we join them?

I mean those of us who haven't yet.

Also, I propose a mandatory three to four day MetaFilter breakdown every month (or week) so that the actual internet can be appreciated in its astounding and Faulkneresque myriad variety.

The Monkey is evolving on its own diversity is a good thing.

I've got a huge backlog of stuff to fix now that the server is back up, and I've still got to finish up ask metafilter. New users will come after that.

The actual internet, hama7? Do you mean that there's actually stuff out there worth seeing that doesn't make it to MeFi?

Do you mean that there's actually stuff out there worth seeing that doesn't make it to MeFi?

It seems laughably inconceivable, but I've seen it over the past few days in all its uncensored glory.

There's porn. I've seen it. Like a shining NSFW city on the hill.

I totally forgot about monkeyfilter. Got me a wonderchook logon there and everything. Ah well.

stav, you forgot about the MonkeyHaus?!? And you still survived the downage?!? You're a better chicken than I am...

mathowie's huge backlog sounds, somehow, dismally familiar....

It all comes down to a broken shoelace with no time to spare.

Um... right after catastrophic downtime may actually not be a very good point to bring up expanding the load. Am I crazy?

thank god for that !

rejoice, unloved and unregistered users! it is on it's way!

(i think the addition of ask.mefi makes it rather obvious why people *really* want to climb aboard. I have found this resource to be one of the most useful things i've seen on the internet, like, ever -- yes, even surpassing the google-rific pornographic smorgasboard. again, matt, kudos, and the check's in the mail, damn it, meaning ducats will rain down from heaven like desert manna whenever i'm nice and drunk and can remember my paypal password.)

The sight is basic, no spell check. Second amberglow.

one must ask why there are multiple monkey related spinoffs.

Hey, don't be knockin' the monkeys!

Users' guide: MonkeyFilter is fond of monkeys and uses them as an all-purpose mascot, but is basically about links and discussion, just like MeFi (except nicer). 9622 is all about the monkeys. And the jokes. And Miguel (who signed up for MoFi but abandoned it in a fit of username confusion). And did I mention the jokes?

Oh, and I too support expedited entry for MoFites—they've shown they can play in the big leagues.
