I'm calling you out jfuller! I don't know why, but it seemed like the thing to do. Dare you disgrace the name of the lovely Miss Elisabeth?! You! Me! Ladder Match, inside!

That was quick. Do we still get the ladder match? I have a fetish for ladder matches.

Thanks for nothing tyro urge. Guess my mom was right: I should find someone else and just settle down. Oh well.

That was amusing, since it wasn't a good FPP to start with, and then the "more info to come" was incredibly long and there was zero chance anybody would have read it before commenting.

No, it was kidnapped. I just found it in the Central African Republic. It's at home now looking pale but rested.

Does a "ladder match" involve two people standing on ladders & fighting with their weapon of choice, or two people bashing each other silly with ladders?

Either way, I'd pay to see it.
posted by Johnny Assay at 3:36 PM on March 1, 2004

No, it was kidnapped.

Yipes - oh well, folks - I hadn't checked MeTa to see if we'd already crapped on this topic for the day. Sorry etc. Double-post etc.

you can't test the links exactly they will appear in your post until you're previewing.
Put the whole post (including the more inside) in the box, preview, test links, change a few words, preview, check everything is absolutely perfect, cut more inside part from box, click post, go to thread, paste more inside into box, preview once more for luck, post. No such word as can't.

I resent that. I happen to LIKE circle-jerking with dejah and homonculus.

Oh, um, you said political. I like that too.

This post also had the honour of being called worst ever:

This debunks a few myths about PFDs.

"You need your PFD before you're unconscious, otherwise, how would you put it on?"

This is the worst post I've seen on Metafilter. You suck.

I'll clarify: it was the worst excuse for a post ever.

That guy over there, yeah, the one I disagree with! He doesn't have comments on his site! Don't you hate that? So I'm posting it here even though I know you guys'll say this is a lame post but I'm calling you out, random blogger with no comments!

Lack of patience, lack of foresight. Turns out I didn't need that random weblog for a bad example after all, if I'd just waited a couple hours I could have had my pick of people saying "Aristide democratically elected" right here. Should have known mefi better; I promise I'll trust you folks more next time.

You're right. A happy modem would annoythehelloutta me. Maybe a drunken modem or mildly annoyed modem or perpetually-existentially-dissatisfied modem? These questions are tough. What the hell kinda modem is dear clavdivs, I wonder?

Remember, modem = modulator/demodulator. While our clav is certainly one of those things, he's definitely not both.

My god, this is a solemn moment in the history of MetaFilter. Miguel has been toppled from a position that looked impregnable. It's like Ty Cobb's hit record falling. Miguel, congratulations; your program of self-restraint, which must have been very painful, has succeeded beyond expectations. And trout, old bean, I'm afraid I'm going to have to start making merciless fun of you instead. Try not to take it personally.
posted by languagehat at 5:52 PM on March 3, 2004

It's like Ty Cobb's hit record falling.

It is almost impossible to believe, and I (for one) never thought I would live long enough to see the day. I hope that, unlike the other record-breaker, Miguel hasn't been illegally betting on these posts.

I can't believe it either. And I dropped off the top-25 list entirely. Wow.

On the other hand, I have actually met mr. troutfishing. I know he's a real person, unlike that shadowy figure from "Portugal".

Fine. I for one welcome our new troutfishing overlord.
posted by yhbc at 8:54 PM on March 3, 2004

that shadowy figure from "Portugal".
Yeah, how do we know that "Portugal" is a real place anyway? Of course, you many have only met someone posing as troutfishing, unless he produced some form of photo ID with that name on it.
