Banned IP ranges get you redirected to plastic.com June 26, 2001 6:45 AM   Subscribe

This past week I've tried to access metafilter from a public library computer and an internet cafe computer, but each time I've gotten redirected to plastic.com. Very strange - from my PC at work it's fine. I live in France.

If you connect from an IP range that's been banned, you get redirected to Plastic. We talked about it here somewhere.

Damn, I just searched again and found the discussion. And here I was thinking the French were newly banned. Sorry for the trouble.

Didn't really solve your problem, though, did it? I'd suggest emailing Matt.

Alternative answer: Jane, you've got to get me over there. This looks like it needs a service call.

Hey, that happened to me too. And it happened today while in a Kinko's. I am now connecting from a shell account via telnet.

What's the origin of this? Is this something Matt configured? Why Plastic, and not somewhere else?
