I would like to donate the domain name weblogs.info for some useful purpose. Any suggestions or proposals?
I like that idea, but do you think enough people would participate?

The Eatonweb Portal is the best thing I can think of.
I suspect Rogers might make use of it, but his users have plenty of domain-forwarding problems already.
Oh, Asparagirl, having an obvious name doesn't mean jack.

"A weblog is a publication written by a real person."
Genius.

I could see it being more of a how-to than a directory. A clearinghouse of information on what tools are available, comparisons thereof, other doo-dads, etc.
But that doesn't really help you with the whole donation thing. Your guess is as good as mine there.
(Thanks for posting this in the grey instead of green. I would've totally missed it over there.)

Sometimes I forget the real name of the guy who writes weblog X, but does it under a pseudonym, or what state or country certain bloggers live in. The site could have a database with entries for real name, pseudonym, web log name, previous weblog names, weblog URL, previous weblog URLs, other sites person posts at, occupation, age, political leanings, location, gender, shoe size, whatever. Then let users of the site sort the data however they'd like to find bloggers of their political persuasion from their state, or to find female bloggers who are also taxidermists, or something. It would be opt-in only, for privacy reasons.
I know there are quite a few weblog directories already, but this domain name seems like it would really take off as a sort of central clearinghouse, which is becoming crucial as the number of blogs explode. I dunno, just a thought.
