have only browsed the photos randomly so far, but especially like the shout outs to kaycee nicole and actual threads - too funny ! (erm, not that i get the significance of them, outside of 9622) yay, i get a shout out as a random flickr user, heh.

captions would be good tho', i have no idea who anyone is.

Yah, I am always frustrated when there isn't captions saying who's who. Someone add comments to the photo pages, you can!

I thought the 9622 was a shout-out to a thread, which was very novel, but the other ones don't seem to be. I'm confused. I liked the Kaycee Nicole shout-out.

Sorry we missed you too! I brought a webcam and appropriate software in my bag but there wasn't a good opportunity to try and use it. We'll do it another time.

I'd be glad to try joining a meetup by video from home sometime. Can we get a good number of people into a conference together? If so then I humbly propose the Metafilter International Virtual Meetup!

I'm sorry about missing you. I don't know if the NJ group ever found a hotspot, but I think I was the one with the wireless-enables laptop (someone else had a webcam and software), but I left a little early.

also, i think the shoutouts to threads (and a random usernumber) were random, except for 9622.

It's technically possible that 9622 was a randomly generated thread number, too.

However, the absence of seanyboy from any shoutouts implies conspiracy.

9622 was definitely not random - Jerry and O9scar researched it to make sure it was the right number.

1700 was roughly the number of comments on 9622, which then mistakenly got written down. Everything else was made up.

Funny how you can identify a MeFi get-together just by the sort of people that are there. There's a certain... "look" to them.

We did get a tracicle shout in, but you, among others, were sadly neglected, I'm sorry to say. That particular shout out was indeed the "hey ladies" number, and thus the cheese factor. :)

There's a certain... "look" to them

whaddayah mean...? each meet up generally looks like a real mixed bag of types to me, which is why it's so much fun to see the photos.

I dunno, tracy. When I attended the Vancouver MeFi, I walked into the bar and straight to the MeFi group based solely on a gut instinct that "these guys look like a bunch of webgeeks."

Note that I necessarily include myself in that category.
