I just wish to apologise for my part in what is possibly the worst MeFi day in recent memory. I think I'm going to skip the next week and see how it looks when I get back.
Hey, relax. At least you didn't make a syntax error so silly as to still make you wince months after posting it.
Jesus.

Sorry, I must be missing it. What was so awful about yesterday? Just a typo in your post, Neale? Or the absurd number of threads?
I'd hate for yesterday to be remembered as particularly icky - it was the day I finally ratcheted up the gumption to post to the front page. Wait - are you trying to tell me something?

The front page got spammed by that Mickey Suttle guy, pushing his latest Star Wars plot (thread removed, of course.) By and large, things didn't get much better after that.

Your post was cool gleuschk, and I thank you again for the link.
What I noticed that day was the second post about the Fay Weldon advertising/book deal conflict of interest thing.
People who were interested in the topic and/or had posted to it were still checking the first thread and it was still "alive" so to speak. Yet the day after it was posted a second post on the topic appeared. Why? Because it had been covered in "Salon"
Now by that time the topic had been covered in a lot of places. I didn't feel that the Salon piece added much if anything to the discussion. Why wasn't the link just posted in the original thread (which was still ongoing) There must be some reason why it wasn't considered to be a double post (?)
