I'm fixing some shit, give me a few more rocky minutes.

Ok, MetaTalk should be fixed and running like a top now. I made a couple fixes here and there to clean up unused database fields and to finally remove once and for all the need to store and pass along passwords in the clear. Now only encrypted cookie passwords get sent to and fro.

Now I need to finish changes to ask mefi and mefi proper along these lines.

Ok, Ask MeFi is now fixed in both regards as well. Now to fix MetaFilter proper...
posted by mathowie (staff) at 8:53 PM on February 8, 2005

Actually, I'm going to hold off on fixing some mefi stuff for a few hours, but it should be done tonight.

Don't stand too close to the Filter, or mathowie might fix you too!

(I knew he was going to take a break at 9:00PST to watch "According to Jim"...)

Actually it was for American Idol on tivo. My one guilty reality tv pleasure.

Ok, fixed mefi too.

I have no respect for you any more, Mr Haughey. Although that Simon Cowell is so caustic!

Metafilter and Metatalk throw up Cold Fusion errors if you are logged out, but not if you are logged in (as of this post's timestamp!).

Oops, looks like I started a new thread unneccessarily.

Archives are broken, everywhere.

Hmmm... do things feel snappier to anyone else? Or perhaps it's simply because it's 3am.

metafilter and metatalk should be working again for non-logged in users now too.

Every once in a while Mefi "proper" refuses to show me the homepage. I get the CF error. I have cleared cache etc, but still run into this problem. I can apparently view posts with a direct link, but the homepage elludes me this morning.

Sorry, the error I am getting:

Error Executing Database Query.
[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Invalid column name 'link_day'.

The same as DBAPaul.

Just tried to sort on the front page "by recent comments", and get the same Error Executing Database Query.
[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Invalid column name 'link_day' error

spellcheck has been giving me:
Error processing CFX custom tag "CFX_JSpellCheck"
across blue, grey, green, plus the 'my comments' prob everyone else is getting.

Editing profile, get:
[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Line 22: Incorrect syntax near '0'.

It seems to only happen using Opera (which, ashamedly, I still use sometimes), works in Firefox and didn't try IE (bout to go to work).

I just tried to use the MetaTalk search and got this...

Error Occurred While Processing Request
Element LINK_URL is undefined in SEARCH.

Just noticed that our most recent pony, the [closed] tag in metatalk, has gone AWOL.
posted by DBAPaul at 9:00 AM on February 9, 2005

Is it a feature or a bug that when you click on user comments now, multiple comments in one thread are presented separately (ie, the FPP is repeated for each comment)?

I don't know if this is concomitant with the recent work being done, or if it's been this way for a while, but I can't access the front page, so have accessed some posts through old comments, and noticed this.

The sorted mefi pages work now, as do the metatalk and ask mefi search pages.

Just noticed that our most recent pony, the [closed] tag in metatalk, has gone AWOL.

There are no closed threads on the front page of metatalk

mdn, it's a recent bug I need to fix.
posted by mathowie (staff) at 9:13 AM on February 9, 2005

So they closed threads 'lose' their tag in the archives?
posted by DBAPaul at 9:19 AM on February 9, 2005

I never added the feature to the archives, but could.
posted by mathowie (staff) at 10:35 AM on February 9, 2005

If you do, could you also add the (n new) comments indicator? Please?
