Okay folks, I'm in Colorado now.
Aurora to be exact, so who's up for a gathering? Time and date to be discussed until we can all agree to go to Caledonia's on [I think] Parker Road.

I'd be up for a gathering but let's try something a little more central than Aurora. Maybe downtown or Englewood.

Englewood isn't bad, downtown is fun, but transportation and parking are a hassle.

And no, I wasn't really 'set' on Caledonia's. I DO like the Bull & Bush, in the Cherry Creek area.

Seriously. Driving down to Parker Road would be a serious pain in the ass from Westminster. I suggest My Brother's Bar in LoDo; good food and much more central.

I usually take light rail if I'm going downtown. Cheaper than parking. I've not been to My Brother's Bar. Is it reasonable to walk or take the mall ride from Union Station? Or another station? Wynkoop is another decent place downtown.

As far as days I can go next weekend. I leave on the 13th to visit the folks in Alaska and won't be back til the 1st.

I might be able to do it, but it's kind of a long haul up from Colo. Springs.

I'm excited about the possibility of a Colorado MeetUp, but I don't know if I can find time until the second half of the month. I've got lots on my plate right now ( * sigh * )

However, I'll cast my vote somewhere downtown as the drive from Arvada is shorter.

Good to know there area a few Colorado MeFites around!

Wynkoop's good by me too. You name the spot in Denver, I'll see you there.

Parking downtown scares me. I vote for Englewood (the fact that I live in Englewood is purely coincidence I assure you).

I LOVE My Brother's, but downtown really does suck rocks from Aurora. Lightrail isn't yet available directly from Aurora. Englewood would be best for those coming from Co-Springs...
Any Englewood suggestions, Kimberly?

As for dates, we're still up in the air about that, aren't we?

I'm good to go for any day/time atm, haven't had the first interview yet...
posted by kamylyon at 3:32 PM on July 3, 2005

and, really, is it THAT long a haul from Co-Springs [considering that *I* drove here from lower Alabama?] ;)

For a time let me throw out next Saturday (9th) at 7.

How hard is it to take the train downtown? Even from Aurora Santa Fe isn't too far of a drive.

In any case there's this nice bar in Englewood that I forget the name of. I called my cousin and will post it when he calls back.

boo_radley, do you have a problem with Englewood? I know it's not as convenient from Westminster but that seems to be where people are leaning.

Hi kamy. I wish I was still in Colorado, as this sounds like fun, but I'm really just in this thread to congratulate you on your escape from Alabama. :]

OK the place is Hanson's Grill and Tavern, 1301 S. Pearl St. at Louisiana. Easiest way to get there is take Evans and then go north on Pearl. There is a light at Evans, just east of Logan. Or take Broadway to Louisiana. I'm not sure why on the map it's showing 87, that's I25.

It's a nice place and they have good burgers, decent beer on tap.

Does this sound OK to everybody? There is plenty of parking along the street or side streets.

So, yeah, Saturday the 9th won't work for my schedule. Bummer for me.

If it does go off, y'all have lots of fun so that people will want to do it again and maybe THEN I can go.

That's Englewood? I used to live near there [well a couple of miles away] and thought that was Denver!

Thanks moiftness! I am soooo happy to be OUT of that place, you have no idea.

Honestly folks, give me an address, day and time, and I'll show up.

And jazon; as long as I'm here, we'll have them as often as possible!

::tries to outdo caitlinb on the meetups::

{okay, okay, impossible on the first try...]

kamylyon, that's actually city of Denver, not Englewood. But it's close to Englewood so don't be too hard on me! I know not where one city ends and another begins. Hanson's is still probably reasonably central for people.

jazon, would Friday work better? I'm pretty flexible and it sounds like kamylyon is too. I don't know about Kimberly and boo_radley.

Hanson's works for me, the menu looks YUM!
posted by kamylyon at 4:07 AM on July 4, 2005

Sadly, nothing will work for me until at least the 22nd. You go and have your fun. It sounds like kamylyon has plans for many more to come.
posted by jazon at 12:56 PM on July 4, 2005

That's too bad.

kamylyon, I guess I'll see you and the others at Hanson's on Saturday at 7. I'm short and have a (completely) shaved head so I should be easy to spot.

I'm in. Also, I will have some moleskines that I will just... give away. Twenty was simply too many.
posted by boo_radley at 7:15 PM on July 4, 2005

ooOOoo, I'll take a few off your hands boo! I'll buy you a drink or three in exchange. Or just give you the shipping cost...

Yeah!!! It's meetup and I started it!

^^ this girl is way too enthused, someone get her a tranq...

Oh yeah, I'm short, have dark hair that's kinda shortish and flips up at the ends [no matter WHAT I do to it!] and I'll probably have on a pair of jeans and a turquoise shirt of some sort.

Unless I change my mind and wear something completely different.
posted by kamylyon at 9:20 PM on July 4, 2005

The moleskines are pretty cool. I've been wanting to get some but haven't gotten around to ordering.

And thanks for suggesting the get together, kamylyon.
posted by 6550 at 10:15 PM on July 4, 2005

I'm sure [unless we all just hate each other on sight] that we'll have many...
posted by kamylyon at 10:59 PM on July 4, 2005

Aw.. Man...

I won't be able to make it next weekend.
I'm going down to a friend's land by Texas Creek.
It's gun day, and I haven't been shooting since last summer.
I'll have to hook up with you guys next time.

Aw... Man...

I left my gun in Alabama...

I have one you can borrow...!

(it's always good to have an extra set of fingerprints on a gun...)

So, 6550 and I showed up. We didn't take any pics, sorry about the lost shoutouts...

Where were you guys?!?! boo? Kimberly?
posted by kamylyon at 9:28 PM on July 9, 2005

I couldn't do it yesterday unfortunately. Bad timing. :(
