On Sept. 11, 2001, there was no Facebook, no Twitter, not even a MySpace
…but there was a MetaFilter. Will Oremus gave us a shout-out five days ago in a short blog post for Slate.
Slate Love
Clean Slate
What's wrong with Slate? Is it so bad that people should never build a FPP around an article or is it just people bitching without reading? [more inside]
Who was Hitler before Hitler before Who Was Hitler Before Hitler?
Who was Hitler before Hitler? Asked and answered in Askme five years ago, asked and answered in Slate today, hung lazily on Hank Williams II's recent reference to the Moustachioed One. [more inside]

nice followup
A new Slate article is a nice followup to a previous MeTa discussion. It deals so directly with the substance of mine and amberglow's conversation (and others, of course), that it's a little disconcerting. I remain skeptical of the "media lifts story ideas from MeFi", but you have to wonder.

will googlebombing ruin google?
Slate wonders if Googlebombing will ruin the poor little seach engine that could. Cap'n Haughey gets a meniton for the Critical IP imbroglio. There's some weird editing botch at the end that I imagine will get ironed out later.
Slate Mention
MetaFilter is cited for its good discussion thread on IT at Slate. Just thought you'd want to know. I wonder how many standard media reporters look at MetaFilter for ideas or witty comments?
