Is there a MetaFilter-related reason I am seeing a WSJ icon in my address bar when I visit ask.metafilter.com? [more inside]
Wall Street Journal Mention
MeFi in the WSJ!
While the online version is only accessible to paid subscribers, the WSJ today (Monday) did a special section on the Internet ("How to ... entertain children ... search the web ... find friends ... etc.). One was "Find a Blog". MeFi was mentioned two or three times ... in fact it was the Blog recommmended as the one to start with (and in fact the first one mentioned in the article itself).
Kudos Matt. Yet another in a growing list of public recognitions of your skill and committment.

Wall Street Journal Copyright
This is about the fifth or sixth thread since July to link to an e-mailed article from the Wall Street Journal Online. I only bring this up because it violates the terms of WSJ.com's subscriber agreement, and could cause copyright problems both for the individual users linking to them and for the 'Filter.
Has the newly revamped WSJ online adopted the Metafilter post and comment process?
The newly revamped WSJ Online devotes much more individualized space for each of their columnists, including a detailed "About" biography, a "Personal Comment" space for each columnist, a "Recent Columns" section, a "Readers Response" section and weekly hosted "Online Debates". Said differently, it seems the online articles and commentaries are being treated by these journalists and their readers more like the Metafilterian post and comment process. Was the relaunch in part inspired by this place and others like it, and is this what professional news organizations now aspire to ? Maybe I'm just imagining things.
MetaFilter in the WSJ
The WSJ on MetaFilter:
One site that never fails to captivate me, especially lately, is MetaFilter (www.metafilter.com), a community weblog where members post provocative links and argue about them.
