In memory of digaman
I am very sad to let the MeFi community know that one of its staunchest supporters and all around good guy digaman (Steve Silberman) has passed away as reported by his spouse on Bluesky. For people who didn't know digaman well, you might know his book NeuroTribes (MeFi post), the Grateful Dead box set he co-produced So Many Roads, or one of his 184 posts to MetaFilter (all from 2010 and before). He was always a great internet friend to me especially lately over on Mastodon and I know I will miss his voice. May his memory be a blessing, we are lucky to have known him.
ABA
As someone who is autistic, I think that we need to have a conversation about ABA questions, or people seeking recommendations about ABA. I don't know if we should allow it, like we don't allow other ablest practices.
Anxiety/depression/ADHD/autism/bipolar & other neurodivergences on MeFi
If you are neurodivergent, how does MetaFilter affect you, and how does your neurodivergence affect your participation in and use of MetaFilter? How could MetaFiter -- technologically and socially -- better accommodate your neurodivergence? [more inside]
Complicated subject done well
I just wanted to give a shout-out to everyone who's been participating in the Autism/Aspergers/Empathy thread and say that I really appreciate the wealth of personal perspectives, good advice, and non-judgmental discussion. I made some comments early on that I realized (after posting) could be perceived as antagonistic, but the thread has been really cool, and a great eye-opener for me.
Thanks, Metafilter!

This will not wendell
Can we please consider deleting this question, on the basis that the poster, however sympathetic her personal situation might be, is asking for advice on something illegal or very potentially illegal?
Video maker comments
This thread, which starts with a YouTube link to a video made by an autistic woman, was fascinating in it's own right, but now has a long comment added by the maker of the video.
Disney World Therapy
Thread on Disney World deaths reveals a member's experience with Disney theme parks as creative autism therapy for his son. Pretty cool. More here.
