I am not in California but all my colleagues and friends are. Please let's have a place for MeFites to share their experiences of the Kincade Fire and others. Stay safe and be smart! People before things, for sure. My boss may lose his beautiful home and stayed until the mandatory evacuation was called - be less stubborn!

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for a vast swath of LA’s San Fernando Valley as the Saddleridge Fire has spread from Sylmar with 0% containment. Valley MeFites, check in so we know you’re okay, please?

Overnight in Northern California, a 200 acre fire became a 57,000 acre fire and people are desperately trying to evacuate. There are at least 10 dead and 1,500 structures have been destroyed. The L.A. Times has live coverage, Mercury News has the local story. Meanwhile in SoCal, Canyon Fire No. 2 in the Anaheim Hills area of Orange County is up to 5,000 acres. A mandatory evacuation order is in place; 1000+ people have been evacuated so far, and six structures have been destroyed. Wildfire Today has updates on fires across the state.
