Pony request: Ctrl/Command-K for new hyperlnks

A lot of websites and text editors use Ctrl/Command-K to insert a hyperlink around a highlighted selection of text. It'd be great to have a similar shortcut on Metafilter to speed up post creation!

Ctrl+enter to post/preview?

I was wondering what the community and dev team thinks about adding a ctrl+enter shortcut to post comments. It's something that's fairly common elsewhere on the web, and in my opinion it would be nice to have it here as well. Going to the mouse to click on Post Comment is not exactly a big deal, but it would be cool if there were a keyboard shortcut for those of us who are slightly mouse-averse. [more inside]

Claim your keyboard here folks.

Ok, what Mefite owes you a keyboard or monitor because they wrote something that was so damn funny you lost bodily control for a moment? Extra credit for graphic descriptions of the mess :)

I don't want to control you, I just want to Ctrl-U.

The Ctrl-U keyboard shortcut for making links doesn't work everywhere for me. I'd like it to. [more inside]

H / L keyboard shortcuts?

My world would be complete if, after navigating up and down through posts using j and k, I could then navigate left and right through the links in the selected post using h and l.

Pony: Can we get a keyboard shortcut for adding favorites?

Can we get a keyboard shortcut for adding favorites? I use the j/k and m keyboard shortcuts all the time, but when I want to favorite a post or comment, I need to reach for the mouse. This will not do! [more inside]

vi

Quite by accident, I noticed today that it's possible to scroll through MetaFilter pages using the vi-style "j" and "k" keys (at least with Safari). Has this always been the case?

Customizing or disabling nav keys

So, the j and k keys can be used to jump between posts or comments, which is neat, except I already have those keys bound to scroll down and scroll up in my browser. Would it be possible to let users customize or disable nav keys, or do I just need to User JS it?

Keyboard Navigation for Comments?

PonyFilter: Keyboard navigation for comments, similar to what's demonstrated here, except the pagination hack wouldn't be necessary (unless you wanted it to go to the next thread instead of the next page). 'j' would go one comment down the page and 'k' would go one comment up the page. It'd be a real nice addition!

Mozilla bug v1.2.1

There now seems to be a Mozilla bug (version 1.2.1), perhaps related to these changes. When I press the "Preview" button in Opera, the window below "Comment Preview" disappears, along with my text. It used to be perfectly fine. And it still works in IE and Opera. But since some users here might be downloading the latest available release, I thought I'd bring it to Our Fearless Curator's attention.

Ctrl-enter for preview or post?

Random interface though: Make ctrl-enter preview or post messages. Outlook does it, IMs do it, and I keep trying to do it. Oh, and I'm lazy. And I'm aware of the alternative key combination, tab-enter, but it's uh, non-standard. Or some other good reason. :-)
