Ctrl-enter for preview or post? March 11, 2001 3:58 PM   Subscribe

Random interface though: Make ctrl-enter preview or post messages. Outlook does it, IMs do it, and I keep trying to do it. Oh, and I'm lazy. And I'm aware of the alternative key combination, tab-enter, but it's uh, non-standard. Or some other good reason. :-)

Non-standard? What, should be make Ctrl+N open the 'post a new link' page? ;)

Am I having a brain fart, or isn't that a function of the browser? Or is JavaScript more all-powerful than I've ever bothered to think about?

pnevares: No, that doesn't make sense.

(Note: "sense" is a function of my reality, and therefore may not return the same value for anyone else. :-)

aaron: I'm not certain which you're asking about. Ctrl-enter's just a keystroke, one that as far as I've seen isn't trapped by the browser itself, and therefore should be useable by JavaScript programmers.

It may not be though, since it's not a ctrl-shift combination.

It was just a thought after writing a couple of comments and hitting ctrl-enter after every one. It didn't help that I was in the midst of an IM conversation at the time, and ctrl-enter just seemed natural.
