Your video games of 2021
We don't have games on Fanfare, so let's chat about them here! They don't have to be your greatest, or anything that came out this year, I'd just like to hear about what you played and what it meant to you.
The Internet 50
According to Popular Mechanics, MeFi is one of 50 sites that "made the internet what it is today". [more inside]
What books would make up the library of the Good Ship Metafilter?
Makes me wonder what 400 volumes the library of the USS Metafilter would have on it's Alpha Centauri colonization mission. [more inside]
Help me find the askme about references?
Not academic references. I think someone was giving something handmade to his or her brother, and someone else might have suggested almanacs, but I can't find it, or anything like it. I'm looking for lists of useful things to be able to look up on a piece of paper, back of a book. I know my times table, and don't find much need to convert between weights. But my damned ADhDled brain can't remember or think of things I look up repeatedly.
Post with an old list of techniques for coping with depression?
I'm sure that some time in the last month I read a post on AskMe related to stress/depression, and somebody posted a list, or a link to a list, of coping techniques originally created a long time ago (early 1900s?). As well as the usual exercise, read, spend time with friends etc, I remember one of the points starting along the lines of "don't expect too much of the human race..."
I thought I had favorited it, but can't find it, and site/google searches have failed me. Anyone able to point me to it?
Did you hear? One of the coolest librarians alive works here!
Congratulations, Jessamyn! There wasn't any prize, but I'm sure it's the honor of being part of a Flavorwire list that makes all that great work worthwhile.
Also, I would like an inter-engine fermentation system.
We have clouds for the top 150 tags posted to Mefi, Music, Meta, Jobs, IRL and Ask. We can see the top ten tags we've used listed on user profiles. Would it be possible to view all tags (or a greater subset than 'top ten') for individual users, either in a list or cloud form? [more inside]
Askme comment: answers your doctors need to decipher mystery symptoms
Looking for an AskMetafilter comment that listed recommended questions the OP should think about for an upcoming doctor's appointment. [more inside]
Birthday pony!
In my profile I can see a list of users who are located near me geographically. I think it would be neat if I could click on the birthday I have listed and see a list of users I share a birthday with. Perhaps including the year they were born, if they have it listed. [more inside]

Generating a list of best answers in my own question
Is there a script or trick that I can use to display a list of the comments I marked as "best answer" in my own questions? I'm thinking for recipes, "recommend me music..." and similar queries, it'd be great to be able to copy/paste or print out a list of the comments I intend to delve into more later. I'm thinking there's already a way, but I just don't know it.
Metafilter: A Collection of Taglines
Back in 2007, cortex put together a list of the taglines created on the blue and the grey. They're ripe with phrases that could be adapted for use on signs at the Sanity/Fear rally this weekend. Can these lists be updated so we can see the more current taglines?

Comment instead of thread number in Fuzzy Favorites.
On this activity page, the "more" on the first item links to http://www.metafilter.com/2839866/We-know-what-happened-because-he-said-yes#2839866; unfortunately, we haven't reached 2.8M posts on MetaFilter. Also, the same comment appears as item 3 of the list, but this time the "more" link works (gets to the right comment in the existing thread). [more inside]
Translate ReadMe int CheckMeOutFromLibrary
I seem to remember that in the wake of this question someone mentioned (on MeTa, I think) putting all the books that appealed to them into an Amazon wishlist. They were then able to use some sort of tool that exported it into a format useful for taking it to their public library. Does anyone remember this posting? I tried to search for it but my googleFu blah blah blah...
Cool Stuff Roundup?
The addition of the user-pics page has prompted me to wonder: is there a handy list of all the interesting MeFi links somewhere? I'm sure there's more stuff like that that I don't know about.
Top Ten Best List Posts.
Question about deals: Bad deletion
How was the AskMe about "your favorite frugalities" chatfilter? Seemed like a legitimate question to me with some decent, interesting answers. Bad deletion.
So, are you even still allowed here?
Is there a meta-index of banned users? I got a strange e-mail about a month ago from someone who claims to have an account but 'cannot post this week'. It was stupid and I wrote back that I thought the link was very commercial. It got me thinking: is there an index to check whether a user name has been banned?

Odd results from tag list on deleted post
Sometimes, when you click on a tag in the tags list, you get something like this. Does this mean the post got deleted?
Top 100 SF/Fantasy List
There was an AskMe thread that revolved around some scifi question, and a person posted in response a link to a top 100 list, which I think was a usenet post. It was voted on by users. I always meant to link the list, never did, and now I've spent 30 minutes trying to find it. Any idea?
A, B or C-list bloggers
If you ever wondered what an A, B or C-list blogger is, here's you're opportunity to learn. Our friend, Matt, is apparently an A.
Mefites by Occupation [broken]
Who are the people in our neighborhood? Just found this, so apologizes if it is well known. What other hidden nuggets like this exist on MetaFilter?

Someone starts to answer a question only to realize he dislikes the person who asked it
This may be the first ask.mefi thread where someone starts to answer a question only to realize he dislikes the person who asked it and therefore stops. Wacky.
Follow-up: Compiled album recommendation list.
I requested for MeFi'ers to recommend an album (or two or three) yesterday on Ask Metafilter, and got a total of 121 unique recommendations. [more inside]
Best posts of 2003.
Year end clearance! So, cats and kitties, what were the most memorable, most entertaining or most informative MeFi threads (in your humble opinions) of 2003?
Metafilter: funny tag lines
"self-policing since 1999"
Has anyone else noticed all the funny tag lines floating around MetaTalk threads lately? I've collected a few, but there must be more, my favorite:

They aren't perfect, but they are out there.
Resources. They aren't perfect, but they are out there. Problem is, nobody knows about 'em. Might I ask the relatively simple pony of a front-page resources link?
Like a VH1 countdown, only better - of MeFi posts
So, I was posting a link last night, and through the process I realized, for all the conversations MeTa has about what makes a bad post, I've never seen a list of 50-100 posts that were money. I understand that Matt can't regulate good posts, but is it possible for someone, anyone, to put together a group of 50-100 great posts? Like a VH1 countdown, only better...because it's MeFi.
An actual porn site; found
Browsing the recently updated list of sites on Blogger, as I occasionally do, I noticed this site on the list. I was expecting a girl with a sarcastic take on life, or a similar cliché; instead, I got an actual porn site. (With plenty of html and blogger tag errors.) Is this simply the natural progression of things, or something dastardly and the... erm... artificial progression of things?
list with URLs of the various MeFi junkies
Would it be possible to create a member list with URLs of the various MeFi junkies out there? I realize one can just click on the names, but I would love a way to just scroll through a list.
Bulleted lists don't work
I tried making a bulleted list, and it broke the page layout and style. (example inside)

So on Matt's site he's got "Today's MetaFilter" with a list of new stuff here. Is there a chance of this data being published in XML (or whatever format) for other to use?
