Stupid map
Just one of those stupid "I can't find it!" questions - does anyone remember a Youtube video of a map being drawn whilst narrated by a guy from a country in northern Europe who explained what other countries seemed like to people from his country? It seemed sort of dumb, I know - like "this is X country, they only eat salad... this is Y country, they are very dirty and like parrots..." - and the map was a silly badly-drawn MS Paint type thing. I know I saw it on Metafilter somewhere, but I'm also certain I didn't see it in an FPP... and search is turning up nothing.
Chicagoland mapgeeks unite!
Calling all Chicagoland map lovers! Are you ready for the Festival of Maps? Anyone want to meet up and discuss mapgeekery?
Who made this?
But where did the awesome MeFi map come from?
Jobs map broken
The map portion of jobs isn't loading. The job location of this post seems to be the cause.
Needed: Metafilter map
I could have sworn there was a Metafilter post that linked to a really fantastic free website for learning geography, but I can't find it. Or maybe it was commented in an AskMefi thread? It wasn't this one, though that's a good website too. Anybody know what I'm talking 'bout?
map interface for jobs
MeFi Jobs has a nice map interface on the front page now.

Here is the site. Some results are definitely interesting though. I wish you could click on a node and see its address.

"near users" for a given coordinate
I'd like to use the "near users" feature to see users near a given coordinate. [more inside]
ethically questionable mapping link; i am sorry
I recently posted a link, and in it I happened to slip a 1x1 px graphic that is used by this site to create a map of internet users. Seemed harmless enough, but in retrospect I regret having done it. It was an action of questionable ethics, and I should have avoided it. Please nix my post and accept my apologies.
All users mapped

Plotting zipcode data
Anyone have ideas on how to plot zipcode data? I haven't found anything free or near free on ESRI's site or at any of the ColdFusion code exchanges. Are there any opensource simple GIS programs? I could have sworn there was a mapping component to ArsDigita's ACS some group was working on. Anything in PHP? Perl?
I'm looking for something that can spit out a simple map of the US with little dots where the zip code data shows up.
