Sorting 'users near me?'
Is it possible to sort or filter 'users near me' by fields besides distance? Such as 'number of comments/favorites/posts' or 'since last activity' or anything else, really.
'Near' is a pretty relative term, don't you think?
I was wondering if there was any way to increase the cutoff distance for 'users nearby' in the profile pages. I realize the middle of Iowa isn't exactly a hotbed of technoloigcal happenings, but I know that there are some MeFites that live within 60 miles or so. Could this be implemented as a drop-down in the preferences page? That way, people who live in more densly populated areas could keep their list smaller, while those out in the sticks could have a bigger list.
Or is there a page somewhere that searches user's long/lat by distance, and my goog-fu failed me (again)?
I'm just a lonely geek...lonely in blue...
What's the percentage of MeFites who have no one nearby? I just moved away from Vancouver (in the interior, Quesnel, to operate my hosting/computer services biz where I actually WANT to live) and suddenly, after updating my long. and lat., I'm all alone!
"near users" for a given coordinate
I'd like to use the "near users" feature to see users near a given coordinate. [more inside]
Nearby Users outside the US?
Has anyone ever come up with a method or numbering scheme that would allow the "Users Near This User" option to work for non-US members? If not, could something be developed? (For example, are there unused Zip code numbers that could be designated to major world cities, regions or countries and which would then allow me to see other Canadians who live in my city or at least province?)
lat/lon still on the "to do" list?
The survey thread reminded me: are latitudes/longitudes for the "users near this user" feature still on the to do list?
