I would really like it if all post links that led to sites with a paywall were so marked with an icon or parenthetical like ($) or something. I don't care so much about comment links but if the link parser was automated then that could be a trivial addition thing. If the catalogue of pay sites was database driven it could be updated in real time. In any case, until there's an automated system, I would really appreciate manual/etiquette related efforts to make it clear which links do and do not go to the open web. What's the rule/precendent/whatever for FPPing a site that is closed to non-members (and is a pay site) but which may be of interest/use for Mefites? There's not much to see unless you're a member and I can't recall seeing a similar post in the past. Yes? No? Maybe?
Are links like this akin to saying "Harper's, page 27"? I did some metatalk searching and all I could find was a post discussing copy-and-pasting of whole pay site articles, it seems like this would have been discussed before, but I guess not.
