Metatalktail Hour: Show Us Your Desk!

Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! This week, Glinn wants us to do "that thing where people post photos of their desk," which is always one of my favorite ones! (Show us your desk, show us your purse, show us your favorite piece of art -- all aces.) So show us your desk/work area! Or if you don't want to take a photo, tell us about your favorite desk/work accessory, be it tool or decor or whatever! [more inside]

Metatalktail Hour: Tools

Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! This week, Too-Ticky wants "to hear about people's favourite tools. No matter what the tools are for. Professional, domestic, recreational, you name it. The tools you have and use, the tools you wish you had, and the tools that you used to have and are missing still." [more inside]

GraphFi + user tags chrome extension

Hi friends, Remember when yourcelf made GraphFi and it was great? Well, it still is great, only now it is also available as a chrome extension that I threw together. I've also added another thing that I've always wanted to make threads easier to follow - user tagging! Yay! Enjoy it (or hate it), and let me know what you think! Looking for useful feedback: MetaFilter tools by mdevore

Recently there were some Greasemonkey scripts and Chrome extension tools for MetaFilter posted to MeFi Projects and I thought they warranted special mention, as not everyone may be aware of them. They're from programmer (and Mefite) mdevore (Michael Devore). Direct link here. [more inside]

Can you help me find that thing that does that thing

I have a new computer, and I am reinstalling all my special bells and whistles. What's that handy little app that puts an arrow on the left-hand margin of MeFi posts, scrolling you down to wherever you last were in the thread? And how can I get it? [more inside]

FeedRinse is a wonderful tool for filtering web feeds that are produced by multiple author

I'd like to point out that FeedRinse is a wonderful tool for filtering web feeds that are produced by multiple authors. It filters out posts if they contain certain terms. I've already created a couple of MeFi channels. This one filters: pepsi, israel, religion, newsfilter, congress, fitz, rove, federal, eff, google and perjury. This feed filters the terms I've outlined already, plus the words 'iraq' and 'apple'. And this Metatalk feed filters the following terms: video, flag, dios, spoiler, delete, chatfilter, pony and editorializing. I thought about adding the term 'ban' to that one but sometimes those posts are *too* entertaining.
