It was four kittens, not one. My neighbor was able to catch a few and I also used the Havaheart traps to catch the rest. Three of them now have new homes and it looks like my husband and I will be keeping the other.

Monstrous vet bills aside, it was lots of fun. I got to cuddle with baking-potato-sized kittens for most of August and good chunk of September.

By which I mean, of course, excellent news. You are assured good cat karma for the rest of your days.

If only I believed in karma...

And what happened to jellicle's little precious?

You're good people, Sully6, as people go.

you are a precious little angel, and one day you will be inducted into "cat heaven" where kittens float around on fluffy little kittyclouds and just purr and drink milk and roll in the sun and eat catnip and cat treats and lick themselves all day.

...want to...say nice things...but desiring to...snark...at naxosaxur's imagery...

Aw, heck. Good on ya, Sully6.

...But don't even think of touching anything in "cat heaven", 'cause it's still not your property.

Cat heaven? Books to lay on, faces to stick your butt out at, tuna fish that leap out of rivers and oceans of fresh cream and fall apart into fresh sashimi, exploding dogs, mice that run forever and the hand of God that pets and scratches like no other.

Oh god, you just made me squeal.
Why did you have to do that?

(under no circumstances is my my girlfriend allowed to see those photos, understood?)

You forgot plastic bags to make fun crinkly noises and newspapers to surf on.

Does anybody else's cats surf on newspapers? My cats love to bat the newspaper onto the living room floor and then run across the room with their two front paws resting on top of the papers.

Nice! Definitely good cat karma for the rest of your days.

I just took in a semi-feral stray neutered adolescent cat, that someone else abused, then abandoned. I have dubbed my new overlord Squish. He was clipped under the Feral Spay/Neuter Clinic, and just today he got back from his first ever vet checkup. Taking care of cats like this is rewarding, and I love doing it.

Congrats, Sully6, and good show. We adopted our youngest as a stray kitten, and although he's had a few health problems, he's now happy as a clam.

I hope they all find great homes! I just moved to a new apartment near Dayton OH and found a litter of 5 damn adorable kittens malnourished around the dumpster. But now I just have 5 kittens up for adoption. Ack! They eat so much!

So nice to read all these great stories about other cats being adopted.

adzm, I wish you luck finding homes for your brood. I just sent out a big e-mail to everyone I knew who liked pets or had cats and asked them to forward it to people they knew. Within a day, three of the kittens were claimed. (I also spoke with a pet photographer about sending a message to her clients and there were a few folks at my vet's office who said they could help. Maybe consider pet businesses in your area if you can't find homes otherwise.)

monju_boatsu, yep, that's the one we kept. He was the biggest of all the cats (weighing 3 lbs.* to his sibs' 1.5) and he was very skittish so he didn't attract a lot of admirers. My husband and I agreed to keep whomever we couldn't find a home for.

In the last few days, he's really come out of his shell. He is the yappiest, squawkiest cat I've ever encountered. No name yet, since all the members of the household can't come to an agreement.

*The vet explained to me that since females can be impregnated by more than one male, some kittens are conceived earlier and thus born more developed than their littermates. He's probably actually a few weeks further along than his sibs. Weird, huh?
