Any other NYC Mefites make it out to Improv Everywhere's MP3 Experiment 2.0 yesterday (Sunday October 17th at 3:00 p.m.)?

I didn't see anyone I recognized, but maybe one or two of you were hiding in the crowd?

I'm on their list, but have yet to make it to a prank. How was it?

I was there! It was totally awesome, and I know my picture is gonna be everywhere cause I was right behind the sea captain :). The strangest/coolest part was when my headphones fell off and I looked around to see all these people dancing like idiots in complete silence. Classic!

I'm the kid with the blue hat all the way on the left

Awesome!

Here's ME! (in purple, I'm in a few of the others, as well).

The prank itself was awesome; there were about 120-150 people there, I would guess. There were more people there for the prank then were there for the park itself; I think doing it closer to summer might provide a bigger audience. It started with a little aerobics, then we all walked like zombies toward a big rock on one side of the park. Then we were told we were going to be in 4 groups, and 4 crazy dressed leaders came out in a cloud of smoke- a dolphin, a bee, a sea captain, and an astronaut. Everyone did their own thing, then the groups competed in Rock, Paper, Scissores. Then we all blew up beach balls and hit them around. Then we all marched out of Sheep's Meadow to the fountain (don't know the name), and the mission was over.

Am I forgetting something?

Nice! I wanted to go -- was planning to go on Saturday, but had a wedding to go to yesterday so I couldn't make it to the park. Looks like fun!

You're forgetting the dejected look on that brides face when 100+ people suddenly showed up in the back of her wedding photos.

Haha, that's right! I saw three separate Asian wedding parties having their photos taken in the park- was there some sort of mass wedding, or is it just a very popular spot? I also liked the guy taking pictures of his dog on the steps near the fountain- "Rover, stay, stay" as huge masses of people walked by. To the dog's credit, it did stay perfectly still.

You ruined some people's weddings? That's really, really uncool.

dios, we didn't ruin someone's wedding. There was a couple having their portraits taken near the fountain in the park, in a little alcove. We were walking down the stairs behind them. Looking at the placement of the photographer, it appeared the shots were going to be close-ups, at most from the waist-up. I don't believe we actually ruined their shots, as our heads probably went up as high as their knees (considering the stairs). And that goofy look on the bride's face was probably just bliss at finally being married to her rainbow-colored hair husband (she had an eyebrow ring, too- very cool looking couple!).

Ahh, that's cool then. I just thought of how eternally pissed my wife would have been if a bunch of pranksters had ruined the wedding portraits we paid a ton of money for. I guess if you are getting your pictures taken in a public park, you can't completely expect that your background will be pristine. You might not expect a shark, though! I might have liked a sea captain in my pictures, however.

No kidding- wedding pics are mad expensive. Like I said, I saw three different couples having their portraits done in separate spots (near the fountain, near some trees, and one where the bride's huge dress was sprawled out next to her sitting on a hill- really cute!)

And it wasn't a shark, it was a dolphin! A loving one that saved it's brother from an evil blanket-sitting pirate. Ahhh, good times.

Shameless self-promotion: I'll be DJing one of these headphone type thingies this Saturday. I'd like to mention time and place, but I guess it's against the rules. Email me if you'd like more info. It's not as insane - it's more just about dancing, but it's still really fun and funny to see people dancing when you can't hear any music.

If you feel the need to call me out on this, fine, but keep in mind I asked about it awhile ago here, our PinkSuperhero asked about it then, I don't make any money off of it, and it seems in relation to the subject. sorry in advance to anyone I may have offended.

So what was the "prank" part? Or was the idea to just get a bunch of people together? There's still no write-up on the site.

I think the prank is supposed to be that all the people in the park not in on the joke are confused (and they were- several people asked me what was going on). But the park had more participants than onlookers.

Wow, that's some prank alright. "You sure fooled me! I thought you were up to no good and instead you're just having wacky fun!"

It looks like fun, though. I'm just bitter I'm now 4 hrs away from the city.

yeah, that's not a prank.

Thanks PinkSuperhero! I spent way too much time checking them out. Mostly cool stuff - a few missions fell flat for me, but overall good, fun wackiness.

I am totally late but will still say that I attended and had a very nice time. All hail Steve!
