How do I link to an earlier comment in a thread? November 13, 2005 7:41 AM   Subscribe

I am trying to post within a thread, with a link to an earlier comment within the same thread. I'm not sure how to do it. I can link to the thread but it then starts at the top of the thread, not at the part of the thread I want.

I know this is probably a bit of a stupid question, but I’ve been reading FAQs, searched MeFi, AskMeFik, MeTa, and AskMeTa, and can’t find reference to this. I’m in the process of expanding my (lacking) posting knowledge. Thanks for the help and my apologies for what is probably a “Duh!” question for most.

Right click on the timestamp. Copy link. Like this.

Right click on the time of the post (your post in this thread says 7:42) choose "Copy link location" if you are using FireFox; paste the location into the link. If you are using IE you can just click on the time and then copy the address in the address bar, then paste into the link.

Easy.

What's that? Sadly, the education of the youth of amerika is declining in more than one way. The other day I was at the MetaTalk and the poster was unable to identify a named anchor. And no, she wasn't new...

(Though I do have to give you props for finding an image that refers to both anchors and mushrooms)

I know, I know. I found the image and couldn't resist. Consider this unbecoming snark a gentle ribbing!
