Feature request: Mark this FPP as "Keep" -- like the Bloglines feature that makes posts sticky, or perhaps a list in the "Preferences" section. You could just use Bloglines, but MeFi is one of the few blogs where the native interface is better than a reader. Having a personal archive of favorite FPPs would be nice.

You might want to look into the "bookmark" feture of your "web browser"

Matt has recently promised a bookmarking feature as high-priority, and coming soon, a few times. Given that MeFi's now his dayjob, it's a good bet that it's on its way.

OR IS IT?!

What if this is the ONE long-promised feature that for some reason or other just never ever surfaces, until the apocalypse hits and Matt hits 'upload' on the changed files just as the bombs go off and nobody ever benefits from them? What then, huh?

Then, my friend, we are royally fucked.

Actually this brings up a potentially awesome AskMetafilter question:

What would be involved in removing all traces of Metafilter from the Earth, both physical and social? What kind of resources would be required to wipe out everything and everyone capable of providing some kind of record of it ever having existed?

I dunno. I'm sure I'll have a much easier time coping with the apocalypse if I get to have bookmarks.

Ryvar: the answer to your question is surely a JRUN joke of some sort.

Marked Mid as best answer.

Thanks alan but I really don't want more bookmarks. What I'd like to see is a "keep new" feature just like Bloglines. It's simple.

"favorites" is what I'm thinking of calling it, and it will work a lot like the my comments page.

Some nice Ajax expand/collapse code would make the "my comments" page so much nicer.

thanks mathowie!

The metadata will be invaluable. Ranking/rateing systems are key to taping the "wisdom of the crowds" - it's how Google works and the secret to Amazon's success.
