Chicago Meetup March 30, 2006 1:26 PM Subscribe
Let's try this again. Anyone down for a Chicago meetup? My vote is again for Quenchers (corner of Fullerton and Western), but I'm down for Margies (or any other place) too.
If you were to wait until, say, mid may, I would go! I'll live maybe a mile from there soon. Right now I'm stuck in burb-hell, though, and unless the meetup is on a tremendously convenient date/time, I admittedly will probably not make the long trek.

Hey, I'll be there April 15 through 17. Easter meetup, anyone? Anyone?

The last Chicago meetup I attended was on Sept. 10th, 2001. I forgot all about it the next day.
So I'm definitely up for another one!

I'll attend. I'd prefer something mid-week just to avoid wall to wall peeps.

How about sometime between Apr 15 and 17? We could do it in May too, that way everybody's happy.

1) i like meet-ups; 2) i'm out of town for easter; 3) i don't think i'd go to one at margie's; 4) mid-week is definitely more convenient; 5) i have nothing useful to add.

If we do one mid-week can we please have it somewhere downtown?

i think midweek, loopish is perfect. monk's (lake and wabash)? or we could brave the traders at rivers for a nice view of the river.

i don't know the loop too well, so whereever you think is fine by me. I'm fine with midweek.

I would also like to attend a mid-week meetup. I vote for the Heartland Cafe, in Roger's Park, because it has outdoor seating and Chai Milkshakes.
Well, ok, I vote for it because it is next door to my apartment.

The Heartland has an open mic on Wednesday nights. They charge $3. It tends to start around 10, though, when the kitchen is already closed, so if you're looking for shakes earlier might be better.
I'm down for there or the loop or Quenchers, all are pretty convenient for me. Depending on my busy-ness on the night decided. If I go, I'll drag along elr.

The Red Line Tap shares a kitchen with the Heartland and doesn't have a cover Wednesday nights, I think. That having been said, I suspect the Loop will be more convenient to more people, not being way the fuck up on the frigid northern reaches of the Red Line. Perhaps a secondary mini-Rogers-Park-meetup is in order?

I think a Loop gathering is probably best, mid-week, right after work. I second the nomination for Monk's. It's right off the State & Lake el, and it's near most Loop jobs.

It'd be cool if mefi had a calendar thing. It seems like there's a consensus for mid-week. I'd prefer something closer to the loop than the redline tap, especially something off the Blue.

OK, how about we meet at Monk's on Monday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m. - that way we accomodate those folks who are in town for Easter (who hopefully don't leave before then!) and we accomodate those who can only come after work. Cool?
These used to go up on the sidebar. How come they don't anymore?

If we're meeting downtown, I'd like to throw my vote in for Cal's, since it looks like I've already been volunteered. I really don't take advantage of that place like I should.
Quencher's would be nice, because afterwards, like-minded individuals could go check out the band at the Mutiny for a Metalfilter Meetup.

I'm down with the 19th, but I'll be there late if we start at 6. I work in the 'burbs, so 7:30'd be the soonest I could get all the way downtown.

OK. It seems like Wednesday the 19th is the date...but where is the place? We have a few going around. I think Monk's is central and right off the el, plus there's tons of cheap late-afternoon parking around there, so it seems like a best of all possible worlds.

Monk's will be fine for me. I'll probably park at the Midway orange line lot, so the right-off-the-el location works well for me. ;) I'll be there closer to 6.

well, i suggest the first person there go and claim the "private room" at the front to the immediate right of the door and that we all look for one another there.
or, uh, we could all wear carnations in our teeth.
