Axe-grindy Bush post. May 8, 2006 3:39 PM   Subscribe

This is a terrible, axe-grinding, (self-admitted) newsfilter post with editorializing in both the text of the post and the tags.

Yup.

I really hate Bush. I really do. I hate his policies, I hate what he stands for, and I hate what he's doing to the country. That being said, the front page has looked like DailyKos the past couple of days. Attempts to bring this up has elicited screeds about kids dying in Iraq. It's really frustrating and damaging to discourse.

Why would it offend Bush when someone criticizes Bill for buying some really expensive helicopters for Hillary?

For the most part, I think there have been really good posts today. Of course, the really good ones make the really bad ones look extra bad. And without a doubt, the crappy ones over the last few days are the partisan ones. But, I noticed several that have been really good today.

Please stop saying "axe-grinding." It's really grinding on me.

Matt, why did you remove dios' comment (here, not 51470), and not rollbiz's troll that he was (admittedly intemperately) responding to?

What is DailyKOS?
posted by mischief at 4:34 PM on May 8, 2006

First mention of Bush in that thread:

The Bush Sucks posts are getting really lame lately.
posted by trey at 2:46 PM PST on May 8 [!]

The post was bad, but it had nothing to do with Bush, it didn't mention Bush, and as others pointed out, the program began before Bush was president and the helicopters wouldn't come into service until after he was gone.

So who's axe-grinding?
posted by jlub at 4:39 PM on May 8, 2006

DailyKos.

Take "Democratic Underground" and turn the power down about 10%. Or take "Little Green Footballs" and swap the polarity. That's DailyKos.
posted by Steven C. Den Beste at 4:39 PM on May 8, 2006

I wouldn't say DailyKos is really 'antipolar' of LGF, for that you'd need to find some of those crazy Islamic militant sites out there.

I don't bother with the comments on Kos (actually I was banned there, heh) but I would imagine that they're more the opposite of FreeRepublic.
posted by delmoi at 4:43 PM on May 8, 2006

DKos is crazy. LGF is crazy and advocates genocide. I think there's a difference.
posted by bardic at 4:45 PM on May 8, 2006

That said, with all the interesting things about the recent Porter Goss resignation, it's kind of lame that people are bringing up these rather unimportant things.
posted by delmoi at 4:46 PM on May 8, 2006

Yeah. Given the CIA implosion/Foggo quitting/Hookergate there's plenty of truthiness to be found in the MSM and respectable blogs these days.

And mefi should only be open on weekends IMO.

You know, I spent the better part of an afternoon a couple of weeks ago trying to uncover what I had done or said to so offend matteo. Did I criticize one of his posts? Did I insult his mother in some long forgotten comment? Then I figured it out.

matteo is the worst poster on this site, which is bizarre since he has some really great FPPs.
posted by Falconetti at 7:44 PM on May 8, 2006

After much pondering, I've finally figured out why Matteo defends shite FPPs despite the fact that he crafts awesome ones.

You don't need to keep hanging out with the uglies to make yourself look better, baby, you're pretty enough on your own!

Are you talking about the post in question or did I miss something because if the former your comment makes no sense.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to get at with this.

Posts tagged with Bush: 393
Posts tagged with Berlusconi: 3

And, to narrow it down further:
Posts tagged with Bush+Humor: 6
Posts tagged with Bush+Funny: 3 (Yay, Berlusconi, I knew you could do it! Tie! Tie! Tie!)

And, just to add that personal touch, Posts by amberglow tagged with Bush: 10

Yeah, it's quite clear that Bush-related FPPs are forbidden fruit.

I also did site searches on "Bush is stupid" and variations thereof... Google eventually slapped me, told me to leave her alone, rolled over, and went back to sleep.
